The PT is better than the OT, according to critics.

Perhaps this is a good thing.

If the OT was bashed so much, in cases just as badly or more so than the PT, and yet here we are twenty years later, with all these critics telling us that nothing can ever be as the originals, perhaps all Star Wars movies, even TPM, hold up and look better as time passes. It gives me confidence on how Star Wars will be viewed as a whole in posterity.

Critics are the best example of herd mentality that you will see outside of a religion. Some of them have integrity and actually have the temerity to make up their own minds on a movie, but the majority of them seem to have a pretty good idea whether they will like a film before they've even seen it, and then they just watch it to tick off things on their lists.
