I say Yoda had a reason to be tired yet he still stopped that massive pillar from crushing Obi-Wan and Anakin. Just look at the Yoda/Palpy fight: lightning, massive force throws, and who know what else they were doing as the each struggled for advantage. Anakin would be pounded by Yoda, he doesn't have the experience, or the poise of Yoda. As for Yoda being outlasted I don't think so. Yoda would not have given up ground the way Obi-Wan did, it would be Ankin who would try to flee. Anakin vs. Yoda would have been a very short fight, indeed.
Now imagine a Obi-Wan+Yoda Vs. Vader... five minutes, tops, including the whole "You were a brother to me" thing, if Yoda doesn't cut that short by just killing Vader.

So why didn't Yoda and Obi Wan team up to go kill the Emperor, and then kill Vader upon his return?

I think that Yoda knew that even if both went at Palpatine, even if they could defeat them, Obi-wan would be killed in the process. Yoda knew Obi intercepting Vader was a far better idea.

Look I disagree, I think Yoda dropped the ball on that one. Obi-Wan against the Emperor alone; he gets owned (obviously).

But Yoda and Obi-Wan, I believe that Yoda could have pulled off the victory, and I am uncertain as to whether or not Obi-Wan survives.

Look the only guy to school Obi-Wan (twice) was Darth Tyranus, who was the elite swordsman in the Jedi order prior to becoming a Sith. Obi-Wan held no suprises for him in AotC (you can clearly see Dooku mocking Obi-Wan) due to the fact he had just switched to Form III (sigh, stupid forms) and before that he was using Form IV. But Dooku knew Obi-Wan too well, he was Qui-Gon's Master after all, and if memory serves the instructor at the Jedi temple for lightsabre combat.

Darth Sidious doesn't have this advantage. I doubt knowledge runs upstream in the Sith order. If an apprentice knows something that a Master doesn't, the apprentice isn't going to tell his Master about it; after all sooner or later he's going to try and kill the Master - he's going to need every advantage he can!

I can see Sidious concetrating on Obi-Wan more than he should out of anger that this runt would dare challenge him. That this runt is responsible for Darth Maul's death, and has been meddling in his plans for far too long, allowing Yoda enough room/time to shove a lightsabre blade between his ribs.

To use the analogy given to me by my father when he was a sheppard; it's like the small dog barking at the right time to distract a big wolf, giving the big dog enough time to get his jaws around the wolf's neck.

I have to agree with Crown the Yoda/Sidious Fight balanced on a razor's edge. Yoda nearly won, with the support of Obi-Wan would have taken Sids; just as a Mace/Anakin tag-team would have. Whether Obi-wan survives is a moot point anyway.

Sidious was the threat to the Galaxy not Anakin, who at that point know virtually nothing of the Sith. With Sidious gone, they might have even been able to talk Anakin down. They went in to it knowing they would likely not survive. Sacrificing Obi-Wan for the Galaxy is not only acceptable, its in the damn Jedi code! If he dies its a good thing as now he's one with the force.

That's actually the better idea. Yoda and Obi-Wan know Palpatine's the master; he's the greater threat. Take him out, and Anakin, who didn't have much time to learn Sith arts, would be without guidance. They can take their time dealing with the turncoat, maybe use a picture of Padme and the twins to convince Anakin to turn from the Dark Side.
Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.

Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.

They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)

Wait a second, correct me if I'm wrong but I don't ever recall Palpatine saying "THe jedi turned against me, except for Anakin Skywalker, he's cool, he cut off Mace Windu's hand, and then force lightninged him" before the senate. He said they'd all turned against him, and the senate, and that he'd had them all killed. This fits in line with the fact that no one has a clue what happened to Anakin Skywalker or knows that he turned into Darth Vader, and the idea that Palpy wouldn't want to leave the door open for other Jedi to say they'd remained loyal to him and thus get in the public eye and stay alive that way. That being said there was then no threat from young Vader on Mustafar leading the New Order into the future because everyone would consider him to be Anakin Skywalker, public face of the Jedi Order.
