Defend the Castle: an ISD attacks

Mines. Lots of mines. And as many Honorverse-style missile pods as I can get my hands on. As well as stuffing the cargo holds of those freighters full of single-shot missile racks (should be easy to add, and freighters have a ton of hull space). And preferably add some decent ECM systems, enough to make effective turbolaser range less than missile range.

As for how to kill it, hopefully lure it in close to my planet and within mine range (or at least close enough for the minefields to limit its mobility). Spam missiles at it from out of turbolaser range until the ISD is dead. If the ISD is lucky, it might escape somewhat intact, but it's a victory for me.

If I recall, in that incident with the two VSDs assaulting the pirate base, the pirates actually made extensive use of yachts and freighters converted to hold tons of missiles. All of which were crushed by the VSDs.

I would get the new yaght I stole, have all the others evscuste first. Next, watch as the Isd II's captian puts the yaght in the hanger bays. Then the yaghts packed ijn explosives explode. worked with a scimitar class bomber which nearly blew an isd in half! Crimson empire

The idea of a bunch of pirates being able to field ships of the line is just plain silly. They're far more likely to have modified freighters than ships of the line. So basically you're looking at trying to destroy the ISD with a cheap trick such as luring it into an ambush in an asteroid field and then hitting it with a shitload of missiles from very close range, which sort of assumes that the ISD captain is reckless. And then you'd have to run like hell, because if you manage to destroy or cripple a single ISD the next thing you'll see is the boot of the Empire coming down on your head.
