The real problem with saying 'Super Star Destroyerm' and meaning Executor-class, but with no context, are 2.2 km long ships like the Alliegance and others of its class. They are also called Super Star Destroyers. Basically, everything bigger than an ISD and dagger-shaped either has no official classification or is called a Super Star Destroyer. Obviously this is not a problem if you're only talking about the movies, but that's your context right there.
Anguirus, I suspect 'cross sector' is more likely than 'cross system.' Just a nitpick.

In a sense, I actually would regret it if Star Destroyer was considered to be a canonical class of ship, as Star Destroyer seems to make much more of a compelling brand name. I don't want to sound like a minimalist (which I'm not), but there's a certain compelling association between the Imperial-class ships we see in the films, and the word "Star Destroyer" itself.
I would definitely support an organized system of ship classifications being made canon in SW, however, the reuse of existing naval ship classifications just strikes me as being boring. This is a whole different universe we're talking about, and I would find it a bit more exciting if a new, distinctly different system of vessel categorization was created.
Just my personal preference.
