We'll probably see a brand new design that has some elements of the TIE Fighter, but not all. Anakin will be flying one in the big ass space battle :)

I hope to see those against Delta-7's in the huge space battle we are all hoping for...

Actually, no. Whenever I think of the Delta-7 I think of Obi-Wan.

I'd like to see the Y-wings in their prime years. Probably not going to happen, but I can wish...for a while, at least. :D

If we are going to see to-be Rebel fighters, I think the best choice would be Y-Wings. X-Wings were only in the making when Incom Corporation (The manufacturer of the X-Wings) was "excommunicated" by the Empire for cooperating with the Rebels.

And if we're going to see TIEs, then I'd like to see them as "proto-TIEs" which are vaguely different from the ones we see in ANH.

We need TIEs. VSDs would also be cool but I doubt we'll see them.
What I've missed in EI and EII was that there were no familiar ships there, apart from the Correlian YT1300s in AOTC.
TIEs would be so cool...

I'd like...

I'd like to see the following:
  • Early-generation TIE-fighter
  • Z-95 Headhunter
  • OR a Headhunter/Jedi Starfighter intermediate design
  • A Y-wing with all the armour and aerodynamic plating still attached
I think that we will see the prototypes of the TIE fighter because of the Sith Infiltrator in TPM and the big troopships (Acclimator?) in AotC. This indicates, at least to me, that they are planning to show the evolution of the major Imperial designs in the prequels.

The Y-wing is old enough to put in an appearance, and I would love to see a little of the developmental stages of the X-Wing (my favorite starfighter, by the way).

Here's hoping for a RotJ-style ragnarok-space-battle in Episode III! :D

The Ywing fighter with its hull plating intact. They obviously need something that has an internal hyperdrive in it that the Delta 7 lacks.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

The Headhunter was mentioned in the novelization of Ep1. The guy talking about it said it was the newest fighter so they shouldnt be too out of date for use in Ep 3. I belive that is the first instance of an EU ship in Cannon.

Victory class ISD should be in the opening scene, just to get a better link to the OT...

Corellian Corvette is about to appear and the Carrack Cruiser also.
(they're old designs in ANH)

Dreadnoughts of course!!! (but they may fit in AOTC also)

At the end of the movie a few shots about the MAW facility with the Death Star under construction or the probe of the prototype...

A few shots about the first ISD mark I, under construction...

Z-95...later version maybe with s-foils. (very-very similar to the X-wing)

Y-wing in her full plating...

Early version of TIE fighter, maybe the Republic TIE...

Some Alderaanian fighters in the background maybe...
(Planetary fighter from X-wing Alliance?)

Can't wait to see whatever Lucasfilm is coming up with... :D

I support the idea of seeing Y-Wings with all armour on - although I would like to see them in service of the would-be Empire, as the Rebel mainly acquired them by buying out-of-service fighters, if I recall correctly.

I hadn't realized this, but the Attack Gunships aren't classified as starfighters... starwars.com calls them "combat repulsorcraft." I guess that means we haven't seen the Republic's starfighter force yet. In fact, the site's description of the Acclamator makes no mention of starfighter support whatsoever... a curious oversight to me in light of the squadrons of droid starfighters aboard a Trade Federation battleship. Am I missing something here?

Lucas likes to throw unexpected twists in, like the *Seperatists* being the ones working on the original plans for the Death Star. It would not surprise me at all to see the Republic using something like Z-95s or Delta-7s while the Seperatists throw waves of disposable TIEs at them.

We won't see any familiar starfighters methinks- the most likely would be Y-Wings with their 'armor' on though.

Anything else, especially EU ships, is completely out of the question- if we're talking centerpiece starfighter stuff. For that they'll make something new.

Given that there 400mph craft that can't leave the atmosphere... They are exactly what they are called, gunships in the class of the Hind-D
