About shorting out the life support system, I'd say that isn't a big concern.

The most critical bit of life support is heating, which requires very little in the way of control (a thermostat is simple to be pretty much EMP-immune).

After that comes air, which can last on its own for days in a ship that size with that few passengers.

They would be more likely to damage the navigational sensors or the computers, which would be good for them. And if they had knocked out C3P0, well, I'm not sure that would have done much of anything.
