I'd say he changed it to "Senator", like people who do something like name their company "100% Beef", so they can process semen, used condoms, and shredded newspaper, and say "Technically, it is 100% Beef".

I'd say it's either something none of us would think of (After all, did any of us think GL would put a stupid CGI alien named Jar Jar Binks in TPM?), or GL has something symblolic of history ("Something similar to the name of powerful ruler" Palpatine, or something like that)

Adolf? Naaah, if Palpatine's got some German in him it'll be Otto von Palpatine.

But I like Pal Patine best.
