And didn't Nom Anor himself say the Empire would have repulsed the Vong right off the bat?

Really.

Well as already mentioned, it was another book, but I think they could have made something of it if they hadn't just killed him off, that was stupid.

It's also the name of the post-New Repuiblic government (given of course that the fall of Coruscant essentially marked the fall of the NR - it just took everyone a year a to accept that). The GFFA, besides the galaxy far, far away, stands for the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances.

That's the one I was looking for. Truthfully though, the galaxy far far away should have been the first thing I thought of. Of course it didn't even register. Not much is right now. :?

It's clever, but annoying for fan-board users. I think that they did that on purpose so that the fans would go, 'Crap - are they talking about the galaxy or the govern, ent?"

Yes, I remember reading that. While entertaining, Nom Anor admitted that the Empire would've quickly crushed the Vong invasion simply because of the fact that the Empire didn't fuck around with bureaucracies when it came to the use of military force. The Vong would have never gotten a foothold in the galaxy, because as soon as they took the first world, the Empire would've glassed it, no questions asked.

I agree - great continuity with AoTC. But of course, now that Mandalores are back in action, who knows what's going to happen...

Exactly! The EU has now given itself a decent faction of potential antagonists that arent cliche Dark Jedi or Vong.

I was wondering when Boba switched to pistols as in all the films and books that i'v seen/read Boba uses a blaster rifle.

Also, i remember some one saying that after the NJO finished there would be no more light/dark sides of the force or something. has this happened given the ending?
Also what happened to those Dark Jedi that escaped in Star by Star?

You refer to Lomi and Welk, who stole the escape ship with Raynar on board. As the ship blasted away and the Vong fleet moved in to destroy it, the rest of the Jedi trapped on board felt a ripple through the Force that told them the ship was destroyed.

Which, undoubtably, some EU author will say was created by the Dark Jedi, as an excuse to bring them back in a book.

The NJO was so bad it made me finally give up on the EU, and I managed to make it through The Crystal Star and The Planet Of Twilight without giving up completely. It was just dire almost from beginning to end. I enjoyed maybe 2 or 3 of the books in the series and I read all but the final 3. Don't ask me why I was stupid enough to keep going; I just don't know. It was a terrible waste of my money, I know that much,

Luceno Rocks. The Unifying Force was a great read all the way through. seemed to explain or answer a lot of questions, and had some hellacious back and forth action. Luke vs Shimrra could have been a little longer, but oh well. Snip, snip. heh. The way it ended was spectacular, had a nice wrap up. Really, the way this book was written was how Vector Prime and all of the hardcovers should have been. Then again, Star by Star was a lot like it.

I agree - Star By Star was the best of the hardcovers, although The Unifying Force does give it a run for its money.

In Force Heretic I, a Grand Moff made the same argument. Pellaeon countered with the fact that the Empire hadn't been able to defeat a band of rag-tag Rebels, so what chance would they have had in stopping the YV.

The main problem with the NJO was the same problem that Deep Space Nine had. While an ambitious story arc with a great deal of potential, anyone who hadn't been with is from the star (be it Emissary or Vector Prime) wouldn't fully be able to grasp what was going on.

That's why, thought I hate to admit it, its good that Lucas Licensing is taking a different approach with the Clone Wars. For one thing, the Clone Wars are a multimedia project, whereas the New Jedi Order has been limited to books and some light comic book support. And while Shatterpoint and the other upcoming novels will each tell an important part of the Clone Wars, they won’t be as highly structured as the nineteen book New Jedi Order series was.

Please what chance?

The NR are practically mindless babboons falailing their arms in sheer incompentence wondering what the hell to do other then obvious response of overwhelming firepower.

This is what would've happened right off the bat...Pelleon statement is incorrect and ingorant of the situation...this isn't a small strike force that is in your home galaxy hiding amognst yourself...these are obvious targets on the Outer Rim that can be destroyed with a Task force of a good 50 ISDs.

Nom Anor still said it best when he told that the Empire would destroyed the Vong and had none of this pointless squabbling about what to do.

What beat the NR was it's reliance on democracy. The senators where so busy shiting themselves they couldn't make a co-ordinated decision, see the Battle of Corruscant where the Admiral in charge was over rulled at every stage by Borsk Fei'lya(sp). The NR at the time of the start of NJO was as well armed as the Empire ever was, they just lacked the balls to use it.

The Emperor would have simply deployed the fleet and wiped the Vong out one world ship at a time or deployed the Bio Agent the Chiss developed . He had no Senate to please or outvote him, no public to curry favour to, he just did his thing the way he saw fit, and if it wasn't for his exaggeration of one Jedis power and potential he's still have been alive.

Because the YV don't have Luke Skywalker to go into the throne room and confront the Emperor and Vader.
