Ok, conceeded. But molecular edged fields are still the must logical application. As for melting stuff...i would assume something to do with the internal mechanism. Like the edge doesnt 'cut it' ( HA! PUN!) so they have this internal energy source within the 'blade' to burn the object. Maybe not heat per se, but something similar, like a continuous blaster bolt.

Are you a bonehead or something? I've brought up why things still burn and cauterise. Are you just too forgetful to remember them or something?

18, you might want to listen to Spanky on this one (just don't make it a habit and start feeding his ego ;) ). Just because something sounds technobabblish, doesn't make it untrue and if a theory fits the facts, you would be better of trying to poke holes in the existing theory rather than coming up with new ones.

I know what heat is Spanky!

And, Kernel, i know that sometimes things sound technobablish but can actually be real. But i'm sort of a sci-fi segregationist: Wars and Trek are seperate but unequal, and i was just posting a theory.

Ok these theories are all well and good but here's a question how is it that the blade doesn't go on for infinity

Because the blade arcs back around.

ok that makes sense i guess,

now lets say we combine all these seperate theories into one theory and we might just get the answer because each theory i've read so far seems fairly logical.

Then again im not much of a logical person since i know for a fact it's impossible to prove that something doesn't exist.

also the laws of physics might slightly differ in the SW universe than our own

of course i do belive in other universes and each and everyone is different in one way or another

The one theory that most people already agree on is enough. No need to create any sort of "reconciliation".
