The impression I got from Chapter 20 is that his enhancements allow him to best Padawans or Jedi Knights of relatively low skill, but not seasoned Knights or Masters- Ki-Adi Mundi was about to fight him alone at the end of Chapter 20, and we know for a fact that he survived- against a General Grievous with 3 sabres (holding one with his foot).

Part non-humanoid alien, part custom-designed droid, Grievous hunted Jedi for sport and proudly displayed his victims' lightsabers around his belt as trophies of his conquests. His unorthodox fighting form and mechanical enhancements gave him an edge in close-quarters combat, and his strategic ingenuity and flawless cunning rendered him almost invincible against the Jedi.

I posit that the "custom-design" part is the part that allows him success against relatively crappy Jedi- with a genunine helping of incompetence on the part of the Jedi who were killed- Shaa'Gi was simply crushed underfoot after losing his nerve and running screaming like a coward, and Tarr Sierr was a fool who ran right at Grievous with his sabre raised over his head, not protecting himself whatsoever. He probably was not concentrating very hard (see the look on his face just before his death).

Then again, we should probably wait until EIII to properly judge his skill against Jedi. I have a feeling that Tartakovsky & Friends were trying to make CW more "kid-friendly."

That's also something that annoyed me about CW: Other than troopers (when their guns weren't just shot out of their hands or knocked over) and droids, virtually nobody died.

His fighting style is totally different, and not just due to his cybernetic advantages.

Additionally, Grievous' organic portions are described as being part of a non-humanoid alien.

Neither of those are any reasons for force sensitivity and to me only his head looks remotely organic.

Nor does he use any force-powers when he fights, it's more like he seems to be able to counter the force, or atleast lessen it's effects so they cannot do things to him like puree his organic brain, toss him into the sky, make every nut & bolt in his body unscrew, etc.

Griveous unnatural speed is also a great leveler, hemust have enhanced mental abilities to be able to use it effectively though.

It might be that the species Griveous comes from has Ysalamari like properties as well, possibly not like that, but maybe similar, maybe a disruption like field effect that makes it more difficult for jedi to use their abilities.

Why? I would personally prefer that he wasn't Force sensitive.

I just find hard for me to imagine a non force-adept cyborg standing a chance against a jedi. A simple force push or various other techniques would make short work of him.

Read SW Insider. They reused stuff from Maul (specifically the eyes) but Lucas confirmed he is 100% new.

And I hope he fights using Caporiea in the movies. I knew a guy in Boot camp who knew that stuff, and it is awesome to see. A duel like that would kick ass.

I don't think Grevious has any Jedi ESP or training. Transplant a head onto a mechanical body, add super fast robot reflexes and a bevy of hand-to-hand combat software. Now add a lifetime of battlefield experience and prehensile arms and feet and Grevious becomes the proverbial berserker. (I believe we discover in Ep III that his arms can split laterally into four arms, so he has six prehensile limbs to twirl lightsabres with. Ouch.)

Evidently Jedi Knights Shaak Ti, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and Ayala Secura all survived their battle with the good General--their presence in Ep III is confirmed by www.theforce.net and the Star Wars Insider.

On the other hand, the actors could all be making appearances as corpses in a funeral scene...

He's also a non humanoid (or was, at least), and his eyes look reptilian, so he may have had superhuman refrexes to begin with and then got them further enhanced, is there any info about his species?
