Only three books into the series, but I'd say;
Put a fucking sector fleet into gear and get it out into the combat zone. Really, at this point (Dark Tide II) the Vong have only prospered as much as they have because the NR has done jake shit.

That of course was the problem with the war for the NR up until Ebaq 9; too many politicans trying to micro-manage the handling of the war to suit their own agendas and such. Try and remember that even General Abaht approved of the triage stragety used by the NRDF, and this was set by NR military leaders, not by Republic politicians.
On one hand, its understandable why the NR did what they did. They had no hard numbers on YV manpower, other than a known thousand ships and more incoming, no known knowledge of YV stragetic intentions and the speed of hyperdrive means that any world in a sector is vulnerable, thus forcing them to pin down large numbers of ships in defence of stragetic targets.
On the other, its fucking unbelievable that the NRDF never even authorised massive raids in force.
