Who is/was Vergere? What and how did he warn Anakin?

Vergere is an avian Jedi Knight of the Old Republic. She was sent by the Order to investigate a living planet, Zonoma Sekot, and when she encountered the Yuuzhan Vong there, she was baffled by their state of being seemingly outside the Force and went with them when they left to understand this mystery. I'm not too familiar with Rogue Planet, but at some point Vergere comes into contact with Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, and gives them a warning. I'm not sure whether the warning was clear or vague.

You mean pages and pages of text?

Well, I can give you a quick rundown; basically, Vergere used her force skills to intimidate the Vong, and then since she did not want the Vong to destroy Zonoma Sekot, she lied and said that her use of force skills was actually the power of the planet made manifest. However, this only whetted the appetite of the Vong; the small reconaissance force that attacked Zonoma Sekot was scouting out inhabitable sectors of space, and the Vong took an interest in the galaxy of SW after being awed by the imaginary power of Zonoma Sekot. So they flew away, vowing to return and take over the galaxy in a number of years. So Vergere is the one most responsible for the Vong invasion of the Galaxy; had she not claimed that Zonoma Sekot's power was so great, the Vong likely would have passed over the SW Galaxy and invaded elsewhere. I know this isn't very clear, but I hope it helps you at least a little bit.IRG CommandoJoe wrote:You mean pages and pages of text?

Those are from pgs 274-275 of the hardcover edition of Rogue Planet.Vergere wrote:Jedi, whoever you may be. I have left this message in my seed-partners, in the hopes they will find you, or you will find them. There is little time left. I am leaving with the visitors who have provoked a war here and wiped out half of Zonama Sekot. It is the only way to study them, and the only way to avoid a greater war with them.
The Zonamans call these visitors Far Outsiders. They are different from all the living things we have studied. The Far Outsiders know nothing of the Force. And the Force knows nothing of them. Yet they are not machines, they are definitely alive, and they may pose a great threat to us all. They are fascinated by me, by my abilities, and they have accepted me in exchange for breaking off their attack and leaving this system.
I go with them to learn their secrets, and I vow, as a Jedi Knight, that I will survive and report my discoveries. But also, I lead them away from a planet I have come to love. Know this, Jedi-
There is a great secret here, which you may discover in time. The heart of a great living creature has started to beat, and a great mind has become aware of itself. I have witnessed the birth of an amazing being-

So what was Anakin supposed to do? Ignore all of the other shit happening within his own galaxy and go hunting for her all around the universe? Even if the Jedi Council and then Republic Senate were aware of this, they'd probably ignore it and concentrate on the Clone Wars until actual results came from Vergere.

My point in bringing it up is that Anakin/Vader knew about it. He probably would have told Palpatine (since it had to do with the Force and was something he wouldn't be able to hide). Knowing Palpatine, he probably had contingency plans in place to prepare for the Vong, until the Rebels killed him, ruined the plans, and led to the Vong's easy takeover of large portions of the galaxy. That's just a subjective view, though, so anyone who wants to hold different beliefs won't get flamed from here .IRG CommandoJoe wrote:So what was Anakin supposed to do? Somehow I doubt Vergere's extremely vague warning was the motivating factor behind Palpatine's military build-up.

I concur. And I doubt that Palpatine wreaked havoc across the galaxy and killed probably billions to protect the people.
