I honestly always took it the way Stravo said it...everything must die.
I mean especially when one takes into consideration of how Yoda views the Force as binding between everything of thinking that life is just happens, things live and things die.
That and one has to admit even though it's a tangent, the Emperor shows in Dark Empire how unnatural it is to try and defeat death.
I will even learn to stop people from dying

Sure. Is midichlorian density a measure of Force ability? That's what we were all speculating on. They just said "midichlorian count(s)" in the film, IIRC.Since they use it, it's not worthless. If it's not worthless, then it gives correct density count.
I'm not saying they wouldn't by concentrated in some place, but why not.. for the sake of argument? I agree that whatever test they did was probably the "right one" to detect that sort of thing, and its canon.

Im guessing that the Midichlorians might not necessarily be the cause of ones force sensitivity but rather an effect. Maybe someone with a great power of the force has these midi chlorians as a result. I don't think Lucas was trying to make a big deal out of them, it just happened because SW fans are seeking answers that the prequels are supposed to provide. It could also be that the midi chlorians are on a smaller level, similar to chromosomes. So losing a limb or a few pints of blood wouldn't have an effect on the count. Although losing a limb and some blood definitely would make even the most powerful Force User (Except maybe a Sith with a hot poker up his arse) a little week.
Qui Gonns rant about the midichlorians? Probably just a story Jedi tell young trainees.
