What happened to the YV-worldbrain?
The optimist thinks, that we live in the best of all possible worlds and the pessimist is afraid, that this is true.

Well, we know that Telos was rebuilt, and Taris was rebuilt according to EAW. But Camaas, the source of a true BDZ operation, left the world so devastated that terraforming a different planet would be easier. So Coruscant probably wasn't targeted with BDZ-level destruction (this seems likely to have made Vonglife impossible as well), but rather massive infrastructure damage.
Right; I'm simply wondering how much infrastructure was actually destroyed -- and therefore had to be rebuilt -- to get yet some more data on the New Republic's industrial abilities. I wasn't trying to say Coruscant experienced BDZ-level destruction.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

Well, the lowest levels of the city (kilometers down) were still intact, and the occasional skyscraper superstructure was left standing, if gutted, but the rest, IIRC, was completely destroyed, either from bombardment or the "Vong-forming" process.

On post-Vong Coruscant: first off, while immense tracts of cityscape were devastated by crashing satellites, skyhooks, and whatnot, most of it was left standing and just covered in vonglife. I'd basically think of it as a worse version of Coruscant circa 45 rS, during the worst part of the Imperial civil war-- except with Vong life tossed in.

No mention of the current status of the worldbrain, but it did help un-Vongform the planet.

Gotta love the fanservice:

In response to a shooting incident, Tycho Celchu inquires regarding to HAn's safety after an assasination attempt on GAR delegates.

REading through betrayal more gradually, and though it's still average there are parts of it where allston I feel is doing a good job. For one thing i'm starting to like the idea of Corellia spearheading a breakaway from the GA, because its a realistic sort of threat. Its not "Enemy of the week" or Biowankers from beyond the galaxy, it's an actual threat from a problem that the galaxy hasn't seen since the CIS.

Impressive technology feat: Corellian scientist building a droid to match Anakin Solo's biometrics to overcome the lock on centerpoints controlls. That has to take some skill.

Paranoid Conspiracy Theory: Asajj Ventress, had Sith training and was alive at the time of her departure. I think that idea is unfounded and full of shite but the potential is there. I'm looking forward to the next book to see how this Sith angle starts to play out.

At least something better is on the Horizon: Really looking forward to the upcoming Darth Bane book, saw a peek at the cover art and liked it.

Also, I didn't know this and probably many of you alreayd did, but just so that it is out there. Karen Traviss will be doing two of the next four books in this series including the next one, which will have a Boba Fett theme to it.

The words. "Aw Fuck" come to mind. I'm starting to get quite interested in the Corellian Rebellion aspect of this story (The JAcen Wanking can go fuck itself) and now this. The next thing you know the Five Brothers of Corellia combine and use an army of one or two million to take several Core Worlds including Coruscant.

Traviss is writing only 3 of them. Denning and Allston both are also writing 3 books apiece.

As for Traviss, I'm fully expecting her to take off on the whole "Boba Fett starting up his Mandalorian Supercommandos" thing that Luceno touched off in "The Unifying Force." Specualte on that what you will.

Boba will speak Mandalorian in the book, apparently. Because an absense of this aspect for 20+ years of EU won't look out of place, now.

Well, Boba Fett would be pretty old by that point. Maybe he's just going senile.

Sorry for going slightly off-topic, but Traviss has written a new E-book novella, A Practical Man: SW.com announcement.

You can bet that Boba is going to be fluent in Mandalorian (I'm sorry, I meant Mando'a ).

Thats still three more than she should be allowed. Denning and Allston are two of my preferred EU writers, although Denning lost face with me after that atrocious Swarm War series.

Allston, like Stackpole, is notorious for fighter wanking.

Traviss... never going to touch her books

Allston never fighter wanked near as much as Stackpole did, except for Starfighters of Adumar, and at least there he had the excuse that Adumar was a backwards planet with backwards equipment. He writes for established characters much better than Stackpole ever has and creates better characters as well.

Damn it, LFL seems to have made Traviss the authority on Mandalorians. I can't wait for more wank and Klingonization, can you? This reminds me of when KJA claimed to be the chancellor of the SW university, except this time it's not just self-proclaimed.
