Fuck, did that episode blow. Droids on speeder bikes with lances? Sure. I hope this isn't an indication of what else this "micro-series" has in store.

Stupidest. Fucking. Episode. Ever. How the fuck can one guy lift an entire AT-TE with a LANCE?

As to it exploding, I assume the lance had some sort of ... charge. Or something.

Good points:

1. At least this 'charge' flanked the SPHA-Ts. EDIT: by charge I mean the charge of those speeder mounted lance equipped droids.

2. SPHA-Ts are clearly capable of over-the-horizon fire when required.

3. The droids destroyed the SPHA-Ts with mines, not unlike the magnetic anti-tank mines used by forces in WW2. Except of course, in WW2, they weren't speeding by enemy artillery in the open ...

It may have been a variant firing projectiles like the AT-TE. The reason I suggest this is because turbolaser bolts are supposedly not effected by gravity.

Possibly. Do we know the operating principles of the SPHA-Ts weaponry? Like, I know T: stands for turbolaser but what's in a name? No need to assume that every weapon seen in SW must follow principles set previously when it doesn't look/act the same (ref: AOTC).

Point. This may be the first example of blaster weaponry whose fire can be made to travel in a arc. It eliminates a major assumed tactical disadvantage of the clone army artillery.

I think Mr. Tartakovsky needs to learn that while guys with lances destroying tanks is OK in Samurai Jack, it's *really* stupid in anything Star Wars.

Does anybody else feel this so-called 'microseries' is a premature ejactulation of a show? I sat down to watch an episode, before I could even RELAX the damn thing was over.

Who the hell thought that 5min cartoon shorts, presented with an episode a day rather than, say, 4 episodes together, would be a good idea?

The basic idea was a sound - SW would lend itself well to a cartoon format, particularly since the great majority of the PT relies on animation - but as someone has already said, it is too goddamn short for the way it is presented each night.

I'm waiting for the weekend, where they'll reshow all 5 episodes relatively back-to-back (you still have to watch the other full-length cartoons that are in-between). I think it'll make an interesting hour-long short film. I just can't fathom why they couldn't do that, rather than the bizarre 5min thing...

It's not optimal, that's for sure- I don't care that much though, as I'm hoping it'll come with the Episode III DVD- it's only an hour, you can't release that by itself.

That's if I continue to watch it after the somewhat promising start was utterly pissed on by today's rank stupidity.

IIRC Ep.II ICS says they have changeable guns barrels which can be swapped out for different situations.

Hey, it's GL! He can do anything!

Rumor mill has it that the Clone Wars will be released on DVD in Summer 2004, all 20 episodes (10 this month, 10 in Spring). This is to be followed by a seperate OT DVD release (bumped up from its orignially slated post-EIII release). But this information is subject to change.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

I am willing to bet those lances are something like the power weapons of wh40k.

They must be, but Durge and his lance must be ridiculously strong to slam into an AT-TE head-on (at considerable speed), lifting it up from underneath the chin, and then boom it explodes. It's just dumb.

The flanking of the SPHA-T batteries I can live with, the 'charge of the droids with lances' I can't though- they just ride through a spray of clonetrooper fire.

Don't Roughriders in 40k carry lances that specifically are designed to rip into tanks and explode from the inside? Don't see why you can't have them in this :)

I do recall that. But in the episode the cannons mounted on the SPHA-T's looked exactly like the one's in Episode 2.

I think the whole episode was pretty sloppy. When you have to come up with unusual theories to explain the events in an episode you know the creators of the show have messed up.

Did you see last night's episode? It was pretty bad. A very big let down after the previous episodes being so sweet.

All of you complaining about it being too short, just to tell you, this is a test run for future full-lenghted Star Wars cartoons, and from what I hear, something to do with Han Solo.

At least you didn't watch Chapter 3 or your disappointment would drop harder.

You do recall we saw lance-wielding Gungans in TPM right? And what about the Royal Guardsman?

Yes, lance wielding robots and Calamarians is stupid (Even I can't deny that), but its hardly without precedent.

IMO the main stupidity lies in Durge uppercut lifting a tank with a lance. The secondary is them charging into heavy fire and obviously no casualties. Their second charge against those tanks was at least acceptable since they attacked from an unexpected position.

The Gungans' lances were crowd-control shock devices.

The Royal Guardsmans' lances are stated to be ceremonial. Functional anti-armor lances are not with precedent.
