It appears to have four more in the slits, but the SWEGV says that they are sensors.

Augh..

I just twitch every time someome tries to justify a 10-gun TIE.. every forward-facing, round opening does not have to be a gun.

T/Is are shown firing in RotJ. try using freeze frame.

Really, that many guns on a small, fast interceptor is pretty ludicrous. if a T/I can support ten guns, then why can't an X-Wing?

In the wings fokes IN the Wings not ON them IN them in the cut-outes

Every single game and the Movies support this Freze frame em or just go play Tie Fighter or the other one I forget its name(NOT XWING!) Or X-Wing VS Tie Fighter

The point is, that ten guns on a little T/I violates everything we know so far about space and mass effeciency in the SW universe. The T/I is meant as a counter to the X-Wing, and has demonstrated that 4 guns is easily enough firepower to meet its mission requirements. Why have 10? 4 big guns can punch through shields better than 10 little ones.

all right these are the various tie models and their varients

T.I.E. The first model run not much data about them :?:

Tie/In Standard Tie model
2 laser canons
no shields, life support, or ejection seat

Tie Advanced X1 Darth Vader's Tie
2 laser cannons
sheilds, hyperdrive, larger engines, and one bad Sith pilot

Tie Interceptor
4 laser cannons
only the A-wing is faster, has no shields, or hyperdrive. based on Vader's Tie Fighter

Thrawn Tie Interceptor
4 laser cannons
 Thrawn added sheilds to his interceptors. this was quite a surprize (surprize is spelled right if you live in Scotland!)

Tie Bomber
2 laser cannons
Bomb bay(can carry bombs, missiles, torpedoes, or heavy rockets)
slow, but can deliver heavy punishment. has no shields, lifesupport but includes ejection seat.

Tie Defender 8)
4 laser cannons
2 Ion Cannons
2 missile tubes
Fast, deadly, and is the match of any rebel starfighter. has shields, hyperdrive, is still very manuverable

Tie Avenger 8)
4 Laser Cannons
2 missile tubes
Limited run version of Vader's Tie. Has sheilds and hyperdrive but was discontinued in favor of the Tie Interceptor

Tie/Rc
no weapons
Recon model
only limited use since deploying one gives up a Tie slot on your vessel. a standard tie can perfom this unit's missions. the array on board is very long ranged though.

Tie/fc
no weapons
fire support model
only limited use since deploying one gives up a Tie slot on your vessel. a standard tie can perfom this unit's missions. the array on board is very long ranged though. this ship is designed to act as a spotter for turbolaser gunners

Tie/Gt
2 laser cannons
2 missile Tubes
the predisesser of the Tie Bomber. has slightly larger hull but is otherwise the same as a standard Tie/In

Tie Droid
2 Laser cannons
opperationally the same as a tie/In

F  or arguments sake lets say 6 weapons four in the wings sticking oyut the long ends, more on that in a minute, and two in the body. The wing cannon are even nastier than you may first think if they do shoot out the points on the forward edge of the wings then they benefit from a long chamber for the particle accelerator to use to up the power and damage they can do.

Ok, to make that clear:
the standard TIE fighters are named TIE line fighter and are abbrevated
TIE/ln which is L and N
the interceptor is TIE/In which is I and N

On a fragile..unshielded craft...what person would be stupid enough to put 10 laser cannons on it? It would be a HUGE waste of credits.

I don't think it's fragile. I just think it could be made better.

Yes it could've been made better. But hey they were designed to be cheap and effective..not durable but of course we all know that already lolz.

TIE/ln which is L and N

that In came from one of my reference books and stood for Impeial National

if my next entry on the list didn't make it clear what model i was refering to

The power requirements for ten laser cannons capable of knocking out x-wings is staggeringly huge (on a snubby scale). Having them fit a generator for those guns onto a TIE Interceptor stretches credibility.

It would slow them down and decrease their manuverability. These are the only advantages the TIE has over the X-wing.

No, they don't. Their weapons technology is drastically inferior to the point that they have to put the weapons on a rotating outer disc because of the cooldown time between shots. What happens if the disc is damaged by enemy fire? And the fact that the ship itself is a pair of discs slapped together is a monstrously bad idea. You've got ENORMOUS blind spots- namely the top and bottom of the ship. Not to mention all that empty space in between the discs. Fly in there and they can't shoot at you. It's as stupid as some of the ships from Star Trek.

Nah, ISDs are much more impressive. When you see an ISD, it invokes a thrilling sense of power. Looking at a HBD picture just makes me go "What moron on the B&B art team defected to Star Wars?"
