The fact of the matter is, the Jedi are not infallible. If you haven't already, I suggest you read the 'Symbolism of Star Wars' (you can find it on the main site).Kartr_Kana wrote:Some of you may have read my comments on the PT and know that I hate the way they show the Clone Wars.
These movies seem to show that the jedi and the republic are pathetic and should die. The Emperor looks like a good guy and all the EU is ignored.
Other reasons exist but I am to tired to lay them out now. Flame away
Annie is an "abused"(i.e. slave) "misunderstood", "deprived" (not allowed to love) yada yada yada. Is it any suprise that he goes to the dark side? Is it even really sad? It only changes his behavior for the better, it gives him focus he gets revenge on those who "wronged" him the only problem is that he loses Padme, but he does gain a lot of power towards his goal of being able to keep people alive. Remember in the trailer Palpentine says "the dark side is a pathway to powers many consider unnatural" When I heard this I imediatly remembered the scene at Anakins mothers grave I do not know if that is what GL intended but I suspect it was. Annie change to the dark side is not really a tragedy the way Old ben makes it sound in ANH. Ben seems to actually miss Anakin and he feels that the change is severe enough to actually call Darth Vader someone other then Anakin and severe enough to say that Darth Vader killed Anakin. While it apears in AOTC that Anakin already has leanings, definatly so in the trailer for ROTS so it should come as no suprise and is not really enough of a change to call Vader not-Anakin and to say that Vader killed Anakin when Vader is merly the out growth of Anakins personality.
So your saying that the Empire makes Propoganda about Vader being a pussy punk teenager. Confused

I found that so irksome. The clones have not been the defining element of the Clone Wars. They're the backbone of the GAR, sure, but the war has been a conflict at one level between the CIS and the Republic, and between Sidious, Dooku, the renegade Jedi and the Jedi Council on another.
It was a neat twist on Lucas' part to steer us away from the common conception that the Clone Wars involved some other faction or outside party attacking the Republic with an army composed of clones, but it kind of robs the title of its meaning.
The clone wars would have been better if they had stayed with the conception that was built in the colective mind of viewers, for the simple reason that it would have felt more like the Star Wars we know and love rather then some stand alone sci-fi production. It was a neat twist on Lucas' part to steer us away from the common conception that the Clone Wars involved some other faction or outside party attacking the Republic with an army composed of clones
I never said or intened to say that the Jedi were infallable. Do you remember Obi-wan when you first say him in ANH? How he is a mysterious, but friendly and kind. Then in the cottage we saw the wisdom and inteligence while in the cantina we saw the gritter business side of Obi-wan. Strength, wisdom, patience and self-control that exemplefied Obi-wan and through Obi-wan the conception as the jedi as a whole. Yoda showed us another side of the Jedi, the riddler, the trickster, the teacher, but through it all you could still see the same traits in him that you could see in Obi-wan. The Jedi of the PT lack that quite, confidant strength and not just one or two, but the whole order lacks it. Qui-gon had some of it as does Yoda and Mace, but they lack the quite air displayed in the OT. They just are not Jedi as GL first showed us, they do not quite ring true. The fact of the matter is, the Jedi are not infallible. If you haven't already, I suggest you read the 'Symbolism of Star Wars' (you can find it on the main site).
And this is what is suggested by the title "clone wars", but we are not shown the clone wars we are shown the Speratist war of independence/The Republic cvil war not Clone wars.AOTC has some thing that suggests that there were Clone war(s) before the PT (the fact the Senate will not accept the use of clones).
*Agreed* usually if any thread needs a 'Bump' to keep it alive, it usually shouldn't be kept alive... As much as I would like to send some of my threads back to the top, unless others post, they should be left to die a natural Death.Lord Revan wrote:Perhaps we just want this thread to die.
Well this thread only one fucking long rant to begin with, there wasn't really point anytime and it should have died long ago.Crossroads Inc. wrote:*Agreed* usually if any thread needs a 'Bump' to keep it alive, it usually shouldn't be kept alive...
