Re: Star Wars: Rebels
well TWC (which still counts as canon IIRC) basically took what was good from the Travis mandos and threw away the rest, so I think Rebels is gonna take the same route.

true enough. the TCW resemble the KOTOR/SWTOR Mandos with them being "honorble" but pragmatic, rather then the viking sterotype combinied with macho bragging thr Travis version was.Mange wrote:I think TCW threw away most. Re: Star Wars: Rebels
Hey guys, remember that cadet Ezra befriended back in the Academy episode who was looking for his sister, only to be mysteriously transferred away at the end of the episode? Hoping the show will pick up that plot thread sometime in the future?
Because it won't. Why? They already resolved it. In fucking junior novels. Reposted from my rant about it on SpaceBattles:
What. The. Fuck.
That is not how you do things!
FFS, I should not have to track down some fucking book or comic to get plotline resolution from a TV show (or movie, for that matter). I can give Son of Dathomir a partial pass, since TCW got canceled. That's one thing. But Rebels is an ongoing show, they knew they had at least a second season practically the same time the very first episode aired, there's no fucking excuse to take your plot off our television screens and resolve it in a fucking junior novel the vast majority of your audience will probably never read or have even heard of. Now it'll just look like a damned dropped plot thread if that character never gets referenced again, or if he does come back people will be scratching their heads wondering how, when and why he got his sister back.
Fuck this "it's all canon" bullshit, you still need to respect the fact that not everyone is going to read your supplementary materials. If it's in a TV show, it needs to be resolved/make sense in the TV show. Same thing for a movie. The audience should not be wondering what the fuck is going on and need to go read some guide book, comic or novel in order to understand the show/movie's plot!
Even the MCU gets that, in terms of Agents of SHIELD and the actual movies themselves. AoS ducks in an out of major movie events, but the TV show gives just enough context so that even if you didn't watch the movie you can still understand what's happening within the framework of the show itself. And thus far the movies don't really seem to care about what's happening on the show so that's kind of a nonissue.
The Lucasfilm Story Group needs to take a look at the MCU and learn that lesson for themselves. I really hope this kind of bullshit doesn't happen again.

Re: Star Wars: Rebels
Probably because they understand that they might be able to sell more comic books and novel if they declare this is all canon? After all, Star Wars have a MUCH bigger fanbase to earn money from than MCU. This is a fandom that popularized a character(AKA Boba Fett) that spoke less than 5 lines in the OT into someone that deserves a movie of his own!RogueIce wrote:Hey guys, remember that cadet Ezra befriended back in the Academy episode who was looking for his sister, only to be mysteriously transferred away at the end of the episode? Star Wars fans are OBSESSED with minor details. Lucasfilm have been making tons of money off this fact for years! Making everything cannon is only going to make them even more money.
Humans are such funny creatures. We are selfish about selflessness, yet we can love something so much that we can hate something.

It would be neat for them to be put into statis and then restored (healthily) roughly after ROTJ. They'd start looking for other Jedi survivors and students thereafter.

Re: Star Wars: Rebels
Why would some naval lieutenant commanding some random picket ship on the blockade handle a Senate delegation planetside rather than a senior officer or higher-up in the local administration?
Also, said lieutenant shares the same last name with Supply Master Lyst from the first season, though I don't think it's the same guy. I could be wrong.

Well, we're left to wonder what the hell happened to the rest of Leia's crew. Also those walkers are surprisingly tough, to take multiple torpedo hits and keep going.

Eh, they were probably bunked down somewhere for the night and will get transportation offworld at some point. Oh they were on the ships and are now "prisoners" of the rebels. But I'm thinking the former is more likely.

Re: Star Wars: Rebels
It would be silly to make something that big and not be able to take a good deal of punishment, especially something like fighter-launched missiles. Even in the games they are rather difficult to take down. In fact it's a bit weird how easily Kanan cut trough the legs but not worth cringing about.Rogue 9 wrote:Well, we're left to wonder what the hell happened to the rest of Leia's crew. - Why is a Lieutenant commanding an Arquitens-class, and why is someone with identical rank taking orders from him? Was the actual commander of the ship on break, and he's the XO?
- Its time for a Lambda class shuttle. The Sentinel class which we saw for two seconds in ANH is getting a bit overused. Its too large for what they're using it for most of the time.
- Liked the walker drop-off.
Didn't like this episode. Didn't hate it either - it just felt very low energy, wasn't particularly exciting or visually interesting.

Hammerhead Corvette
Receiving its name thanks to a time-honored design that stretches back centuries, the Hammerhead Corvette is a powerful transport. While not flashy, this starship has a strong body, forceful engines, and heavy weaponry; Princess Leia Organa once delivered a trio of Hammerhead Corvettes to the Phoenix Squadron rebels on Lothal, adding some much-needed craft to the rebel fleet.
