The SW radio drama mentions that the Falcon is equipped with these, to help the pilot's orientation in space.

Yeah, old news: Saxton mentioned it on the SWTC ages ago.
Nice to see an entry, though.

Despite how cool those are (particularly the Cassini-Saturn transmissions), that's not relevant at all whatsoever.
For one thing, those are radio signals, not actual sound, and they've been sped up and down-pitched.

Sheesh, I thought everyone knew about this. Lord knows I've mentioned it enough times over on TFN, only to have it conveniently forgotten.
Enemy Lines II: Rebel Stand mentions it them too:
The audio interpreters built into the Falcon's sensor system gave out the sound of an explosion and the coralskipper's blip disappeared from the screen.

It is conveniently forgotten because idiots like McEwok and countless others try to find as many loose straws as possible to come up with an idiotic argument.

Seriously, think about it.. it would be downright stupid and illogical to not use sound to feed sensor data into the cockpit!

It's like playing a videogame on mute. Sure, you can still play it, but the explosions and shit make you react better - no?

Aye.
Only two of a human' (and other human-like sentient's) five senses are useful for feeding spatial positioning data into the brain.. sight and hearing. Not making use of sound is plain stupid.

Other species might not be so audio orientated. That would get a lot of concern from corporate penny pinchers trying to standardize everything to the nth degree.

Unless said corperations easily provide different options for different species with different sensory percpetions to broaden their market potential.

Didn't the MC-90 cruisers have multi-configurable systems?

I like this. One X-wing might be outfitted with surround sound, another with scent projectors, yet another with miniature radio transmitters.
We wouldn't necessarily have heard about them yet, since SW fiction focuses on human protagonists rather than Chadra-Fan or Verpine. But I can definitely see them being used.

Early MC-Cruisers couldn't be operated by humans, because the controls weren't suited for non-MonCalamari and the visual displays used wavelenghts unsuited for human eyesight.
An X-Wing with olfactory systems for a Geonosian pilot would be nice.

Could there possibly be a problem with exploit holes in the sensor software allowing enemy EW signals to play havoc with the 'surround sensory' inputs?
Imagine a Genosian pilot suddenly the Geonosis equivalent of mustard gas, or a Gotal being bombarded with all sorts of random electromagnetic signals. That'd be pretty potent psych warfare stuff.

It'd be stupid if the Genosian fightercraft's smellovision came with "scent of mustard gas". And maybe it'd be standard protocol for pilots not to turn the volume too much, or there could be a limit to how loud the noise could be.
Besides, how can the enemy fuck up your sound-effects if the sound-effects isn't networked or linked to the communications array? It'd be as plausible as ECM filling up your radar screen with gay porn images.

Which would be a powerful psych warfare tool.
