So, Miss Insect Jedi is still alive, as of Tempest. That bothers me, as does the "You can't see me, therefore you have no memory of me" thing. That's just weird. Any thoughts?

My review of that subplot in the main Tempest talkback thread pretty much sums up my own feelings on her surviving Dark Nest III: The Swarm War:

I agree. She suffers from the same overuse as the Old Guard, who for some reason never, ever die.

I suspect that Denning (or Del Rey) included her simply to have a plausible reason for a certain person from the NJO to make a cameo appearance in Tempest.

Excellent point. I haven't finished the book yet, who is this "someone"?

Turns out that Jag Fel survive getting shot down by the Solos in Dark Nest III, but as a result of the fuck-ups during the Swarm War, the Fel's reputation and forutunes in Chiss space have been ruined and he's effectively been exiled. He now spends his day lying on sunny beaches and hunting down Alema Rar...

What the fuck? The guy is dead! Dead! His fighter got blown up, Leia thought he might have ejected, he survived on a highly dangerous planet with Killiks, spidersloths, and who knows what else running around for a year, repaired a ship with only the tools it was carrying, and escaped?


I just finished the book, that's how I know the specifics of his escape.

Well, Boba Fett got away from the Sarlacc, Massimo survived the cannibalistic Zanibar, Assaj Ventress has repeatedly cheated death and Corran Horn escaped from the Lusankya.

He's just following in the tradition of other SW characters in cheating death to make more bucks for LFL.

Mmmm. Sad but true, especially in Fett's case.
