I think that GL should do the third trilogy of star wars and he does`nt have to create original, since there is lots of good books,he can chose three of the best to do the movies.

Lucas already did say many times that he wasn't going to do any sequels.

Besides, RotJ had a good, and pretty final ending.

Back when he was writing/directing Star Wars, Lucas originally thought that he might need nine films to tell the entire saga. Afterwards, he was able to refine and streamline the story, and he decided that he did not have to make the "final" three films.

Other than that, there have been no plans to make a third trilogy. And I seem to remember something about a Rolling Stone interview where he said it was a joke.

Hell no. The Star Wars story has been explored so much, and so deeply, in both movies and the EU. Who needs any more movies?

I don't think that expanding the story could possibly produce anything.

And plus we run the risk of Lucas further fucki-errr elaborating on his original 'vision'

The problem is that RoTJ is basically 7,8,9...and anything else he would make afterward wouldn't make much sense.

What the Empire is not dead?

Please I sorta like the fact his story ended there and other people got to play with it...though I have questions with many of the choices(Kevin J Anderson amongst them)...I did get some enjoyment out of it.

Don't forget that GL changes his ideas day by day.

Now he said the 6 episodes are centered around the rise and the fall of Anakin Skywalker who at the end ascend again...

The story wasn't based on that originally. On the other hand it would be quite hard to turn the story to another direction.

It would be quite surprising if he would make Episode 7, 8 and 9. Everyone would die in them only R2-D2 survives and laughs evil because he was the real Sith Master....

Looks like I need medicine for my hangover...

No, GL should leave it. RotJ ended it nicely, and there are so many books now that the universe is expanding in many different directions and any sequels would then be subject to comparation to books and people saying, but this didn't happen in that book till he said that and she did this and in this book its like this and they did this not them and so on.

I had heard an awful story that there was gonna be a further trilogy about the Solo twins, one falls to the Dark side blah blah blah. Any movie is guaranteed to fuck up the contanuity and although some of the EU, KJA's work escpecially, still a third trillogy is pusing our patience.

Come on you guys. You just know that as soon as Lucas kicks the bucket, what ever moron inherits the franchise will turn it into a spin off circus. :P

ABSOLUTELY NOT. After the cluster fuck that has been the Prequels he should be BANNED from tinkering any furtehr with a franchise that is beloved and PERFECT before he started monkeying around with it again.

The stories are great as they are I don't want anymore. It would cheapen Luke's whole journey and his sacrifices if yet more needed to be done...let it end with They all lived happily ever after.

I don't think there should be Ep.s 7,8 & 9. It's overkill, and the books definately shouldn't be what it would be about. If there was an Ep 7 8 9 then they should be loosely based on the Thrawn Trilogy but takes place twenty years after ROTJ. Perhaps Padme isn't dead but went into hiding amongst smugglers. I actually thought this out sometime ago, and it could be interesting. :D

How about one of our superior writters make a fan fic on the above subject? I for one would be interested in reading it. I've stoped reading EU now, i printed our a lot of the Boards Fan Fics and read them, in fact i've passed a few on to other guys i know and they are very impressed.

Hell I f I had more time I could follow up on my concept that I had going for Eps 789. I think it's pretty good.

Lucas originally was going to do more than six movies, he said so himself many times, but he's changed his mind and claims he's "always intended" it to be this way (which I think is a BS excuse anyway, but oh well).

If he does do more movies, or if more movies are made, I highly doubt they were exactly mirror any of the EU works out there currently.

I wouldn't even discount the possibilty that he'll have new actors playing familiar characters (or have them totally cgi) as was one in the prequels. Ie: have characters that are played by actors that are old/dead played by somebody else.

Of course, he says now no more Star Wars movies after Episode III is completed (though maybe some special-special editions are hinted at), so for now... nothing.

Yes, but he played that several times...

He says now he won't make any more movies and it's probably true.

OR he finishes Episode 3 then he releases the newly enhanced OT on DVD.

Then he releases the 6 movies in collector edition's.

Then he make three more movies...

...and the cycle starts again...

Could be. Originally he said he had something "special" planned for the movies on DVD and that's why none of them would be released until ALL of the movies were done at theaters.

Then he changed his mind and released Episode I after two years, then Episode II shortly after its theatrical release.

So who knows... and the "archival editions" of the original trilogy on DVD is still little more than a rumor AFAIK (ie: with enhanced footage connecting it to the prequel trilogy).

I would like to see the original concepts for the movies done up as novelizations. Just to see what the original nine-movie cycle would have entailed.

Well, I'm currently doing the space-based animation on a fanfilm of 'Episode VII' so someone's already on the case :D There's a good chance it'll be shite, but you never know. I think they're concentrating on events out on the galactic rim destroying the remnant, rather than treading on anyone else's toes. If I were Lucas I'd steer well clear of the novels so far as inspiration, not only would he have to give money to people not called George Lucas, they are invariably shite. The 'heir to the empire' trilogy was only decent when Thrawn was in the frame, but those Jedi Twin things that came after are so bad it's not even funny.
