OUTRAGE!!!

Okay this just occured to me while I was re-reading Mark S's fanfic, which if you are reading this Mark go back and write more damn it!
But has George, by some inexplicable dicission of idiocy, allowed the cloning of a Star Trek race into the majestic universe of Star Wars, thus diluting it's purity?
Which race you might ask... Well the Youzong Vong! They are obviously a clone of the god-damn Borg!
Think about it. Both races believe in total subjugation of all other santient spicies. Both races are mindless dip shits which prefer hand to hand combat than large scale modern weaponry. And here is the clincher; both races assimilate the opposition!
Man I knew there was a reason that this whole NJO bugged me so much! Death to which ever num-brained, yowie-faced, dope-smokin' retard who convinced George to allow this obvious Star Trek trash to pollute the paradise of the Star Wars universe!

Hmm, I don't doubt that the writers drew certain 'inspirations' from the Borg.
For that, they deserve a slow and painful death. ST and SW are two different things, both were or are cool in their own way, but if you mix them, you get shit.

I dunno, I just think the YV are a play on that "superior organic weapons" speil. And anyways their hand-to-hand combat is more reminiscent of Klingons than Borg, who are zombies, unlike the Klings, who are just stupid. And what of this "assimilating" by the YV? I haven't heard of it, bu tthewn again I haven't been reading any of the NJO books either.

Basically mentioned in a few books where captured prisoners and willing conspirators, are 'implanted' with a bio-seed-thingy which start to change them to YV drones for specific purposes, like slaves or wall fodder. Interestingly enough, when one is implanted with this seed, one looses one's presence in the force...
...Now if some numb-nut (EU author other that Zahn) goes on to explain this by saying that the seed is actually a whole lot of nano-probes I will loose it!

Well that "bio-seed" majiger might just be like some kind of parasite, that controls minds when implanted in somebody, I simply cannot except any SW author borrowing from Trek ever! Even the crap that the NJO is cannot be tainted furthe rby something as repulsive as Trek!

The Yuuzhan Vong methods of assimilation are more comparable to the Zerg methods of assimilation (from Star Craft) than the Borg ones. They only take lifeforms. Also, the Yuuzhan Vong are more motivated by religious prejudice than by a desire to assimilate technology, and the Borg do not hate technology or life or anything. I think that the Yuuzhan Vong borrow from a few different sources, but they are clearly not based on the Borg.
You will also note how nearly every Yuuzhan Vong individual takes pride in being an individual, and how different this is than the Borg philosophy on life.

Although no doubt the NJO series is not the best books in the Star Wars EU, I still just take it as something that happened. Although we hate to see it happening, it's still official Star Wars
Tough luck

It's not all bad...
It proves that SW fighters can dogfight at fractions of c, and fire from outside planetary systems.

Fire outside planetary systems? We've always known they can fire in space. Maybe I'm not catching your drift. Also, what does fire at fractions of c mean?

Firing at fractions of c means firing at fractions of the speed of light because in certain formulas c=lightspeed

Ok I'm understand what your saying, but fractions of the speed of light? What are fractions of the speed of light? Not quite as fast?

by Howedar
Very, very fast. Like up to 185999 kilometers per second.

Another thing they have in common. The hulls on their ships are weak. Anyway, I don't think the YV are related the the Borg.

What he means is that SW ships can target and hit objects within a star system, from
outside said star system (re. Rebel Stand).

I haven't read all the posts on this thread but... Perhaps George disavowed the EU universe precisely because of a lot of the crap that was churned out. Vong, anyone?
Good Lord, if I had created this majestic setting and then discovered what others had done with it, I'd say - "I made money off of 'em, but they came up with shit."
There is good in EU, Thrawn, World Devastators, Paelleon (?spelling?), etc... but to accept the good would be to accept the crap as well.
What do you think?

George and sone writers came out up with the idea of the Yuzzhan Vong so the main characters would have a "challenge" and it's spelled Pellaeon.

::covers face in hands::
Lucas came up with the Vong?
Did he help come up with some of the other EU ideas as well?

Well, he didn't really create it he said he wanted a new race, maybe organic that would kick the New Republic and it's heroes all around the Galaxy...
