Questions about the Force...

I have two questions. First is, is the Force limited to the New Republic galaxy in Star Wars? The Yuuzahn Vong, who are from outside the galaxy, are blind to the force. Are there any races from outside the galaxy that are not blind to the force?
Second is, I read somewhere that Jedi and Sith could shoot energy bolts from their hands, other than the Dark Side Lightening, in the Great Sith War. Is this Jedi/Sith ability considered to be canon?

The Yuuzhan Vong aren't exactly blind to the Force, they just exist on a different wavelength of the Force than the Jedi are used to dealing with. And no, we have no reason to believe that the all-encompassing Force is confined to the Star Wars Galaxy.
As for the second ability, I don't know if there is a canon example, but I don't see why not. The Force doesn't limit itself to granting its users a few select skills.

Inert objects are not immune to the Force. Obviously, the default condition is NOT to be immune to the Force. Frankly, these official stories of certain species being immune to the Force are idiotic, obviously driven by some desperate author's need for a cheesy plot device; how the fuck can a certain species be immune if a fucking rock or hunk of metal is not?

A quasi-Canon example is Force Destruction is from Jedi Knight, a computer game, where Dark Side users shoot destructive orbs of energy at their foes. I personally do not like this ability as part of SW.

I'm curious. If midichlorians (or however it's spelled) are alive, then how is it that they are in just about every inanimate, nonliving thing in the SW universe?

Midichlorians exist to help living things interact with the Force. We have no reason to believe that they would exist within non-living things...
Furthermore, midichlorians exist in living things BECAUSE of force sensitivity, not the other way around. You don't need to have midichlorians, theoretically, to be force sensitive.

Wong: They're not immune. Force Lightning and Telekenesis does affect them.
Their minds are "scrambled" to the Force, hence why Jedi can't get an accurate idea of where they are, or what their next move is.
Destiny's Way implies that certain Vong may have Force abilities, and there might be some association with that and the Force that accounts for the inaffectiveness of "life detection" and "telepathy" with regards to the Yuuzhan Vong.
There are apparently multiple kinds and severity of Force Lightning, and it apparently takes greater control to simply not annhiliate something with it. Palpatine's measured use of Force Lightning to torture Skywalker without instantly killing him and to knock Organa Solo unconscious in DE as well as instances of Jedi using a varient to stun/incapacitate enemies suggests this is true.

Not to mention that Jacen Solo CAN sense and anticipate the movements of the Vong, although it is not yet clear whether this ability is related to the Force.

Well the basic concensus on the NJO is that it is about the Jedi expanding their view/perception of the Force.
It would appear that the Yuuzhan Vong Force Users and their apparently universal Force-scrambled nature will fit into that.
We know from official novels that there are other Force-using groups, some of which are very different from the Jedi's perception of the Force.
Additionally, the Aing-Tii Monks from Visions of the Future and some WEG campiagns can manipulate the Force in ways that are alien to the Jedi, and they do not require the same kind of Force sensitivity that potential Jedi/Sith require to manipulate the Force.
We do not know much of their abilities. We know they can mentally teleport objects somehow and drive their starships in this manner.

There was another group which used the "White Current" (I think), which was supposed to be the same thing as the Force.

The Fallanassi. They made illusions with it.

I like the idea that species that are "immune" to the Force aren't immune so much as have a natural instinct to Force-counter any usage of the Force. For the ysalimiri, for example, the area around the creature could just be where the ysalimiri uses the "if it can be Force-generated, it can be Force-repelled" principle found in the RotJ novel in that area. (This implies that a strong enough attack could overpower the ysalimiri's ability to instinctively protect itself from Force-attacks... I doubt the EU will ever show that happening. The EU probably likes the "Force doesn't exist around the ysalimiri" idea better, though I like my idea better. Oh well.)
For the Yuuzhan Vong, a similar idea might work, since they are so biologically advanced, they might have an unconscous defense with the Force. I haven't read enough of the NJO books to follow up on this idea, though.

I always felt the ysalamiri really worked by created a field that made manipulation of the Force impossible in its radius. The ysalamiri in my opinion have natural force abilties to dampen any use of the Force near them. The vornskyrs as well have Force hunting abilities and probably have a limited ability to penetrate the Force dampening, and with enough practice/effort a Jedi/Sith could probably do the same.
My private explanation for the innate Force abilities of the ysalamiri and the vornskyrs on that planet and no where else is they're the descendants of some Sith bioengineering projects.
