Battlefield 1942 with a Star Wars theme. How cool would it be?
Imagine getting in and out of AT-STs, AT-ATs, manning heavy turbolaser turrets, running around with your blastech rifle, tossing thermal detonators, etc. What do you think?

Very cool. Some guys I knew were or are trying to do something like that using...umm...either UT2003 or Tribes 2. Can't recall which engine.
Personally, I'd love to see someone try doing a Starship Troopers mod using the Serious Sam engine. Mmm...slaughtering bug hordes...

Let me just say I love teh BF-1942 engine as it plays nice with everything you do
Course thats bad in ways as it does not pick up bonehead errors
I messed around with-it abit myself looking to make some nice epic maps (18 Panzer IV's + 4 Tiger Tanks VS 16 Shermans plus six Moblie Artillery Supports and a pair of B-17s while the Germans hold the Highground, all good)

Oooh. That will really, really be fun if it gets any sort of widespread online support.

Hm, the Star Wars universe would work really well in that kind of game, because it already has a lot of ground warfare. There's already some kind of substitute for each real-world type of equipment! E-webs instead of mounted machineguns, etc. They should also implement droid armies though, with the hovertank thingy...
I hope that vehicles get realistic speeds like the Bikes
I haven't seen any airspeeders though. (check the Showcase page, there aren't many screenshots but at least you can see a list of stuff to the right) - too many spaceships, they should try to replace those with actual atmospheric vehicles like the T-something that's used in training.
EDIT: Check the A-Wing screenshots
