Incapacitated Vader Story

Bear with me, folks, because I'm sure I asked this before, but I can't remember the answer!

Is there a story or comic which has Vader suffering a malfunction in his suit, and he's incapacitated, and one of his disciples thinks of killing him?

It does seem odd that Vaders suit would never have some form of maulfunction... Surely they must have thought what would have happend if, in the middle of glorious battle, his legs stop working :P

The only malfunction story I remember is a few panels of Reversal of Fortune, where Vader trains Tremayne and co. as Dark Jedi and he gets his breath regulator switched off briefly.

All I can recall is that it was a comic, and Vader is on the ground, and his pupil standing over him had long black hair. Is that it?

It wasn't black and white, was it? And more modern and stylized with thick outlines on the characters?

No, it was a modern Dark Horse comic, I'm almost sure of it. The character I'm thinking of had long black hair and wore a vest with no shirt, and rode a swoop bike. He may not have been Vader's pupil, but maybe a hired spy?

Unless I dreamed this story up myself (unlikely) Vader's suit malfunctions and he is unconcious, with this guy standing over him wondering what he should do.

I think your talking about THIS GUY. His backstory and look seems to fit your description. I actually have the comic he is featured in called "Shadow Stalker" but the scene with him having a chance to kill Vader is only mentioned in it and not shown.

That's him. Thanks!

GySgt Wrenga "Jix" Jixton is, incidentally, evidence that the Imperial Marines follow the American enlisted model ("gunnery sergeant") vice the British other ranks model ("colour sergeant"). He is one of only two gunnies known in the Expanded Universe.

Isn't that basically how his duel at the end of RotJ ended? The guy just basically sat down in the middle of a sword-fight so that Luke could slice his hand off.

I think that was more a matter of his will (or at least his body; he was still partially organic, after all) giving out under Luke's final onslaught, not a technical malfunction. Vader didn't simply "stop working"; he was pushed back against the railing, each of his parries and blows brutally turned aside, until he fell back and let his guard down.

To add to your response Noble, that whole sequence was meant to be a mirror of the 1st Luke vs. Vader fight in Empire. If you remember in ESB which im sure you guys do, Luke was batted to his knees right before Vader slices his hand off. Now the more powerful and Dark Side Fence walker Luke does the same to his father right before he slices his hand off. That whole scene where Luke realizes that he's about to turn into his father is one of my favorite of the WHOLE saga
