This is rumored. From http://www.theforce.net/episode3/
SPY REPORT: Hot Tamale

Last week we posted some information on the working tile for Episode III and a few neat tidbits were dropped about Luke and Leia in a Lucas interview with Fox. Sounds like this week is going to start off strong in the rumor realm again. Highlight to read the possible spoilers!
I was talking to one of the guys who knows what is going on over there and of course the final Star Wars movie had to come up. And while not much was revealed in our conversation, I can say that there are currently people working on Episode 3 at Fox Studios Australia.
The real news? Lucas wants a Lava Planet in Episode III - or at least a partial set to be constructed. Tie this information in with the fact that LucasFilm commissioned someone to film that volcanic eruption in Italy a couple of months ago and you've got something quite interesting I think. The guy confirmed a return to Tatooine as expected and then I missed the last part - I'll try to find more and get back with you.

The scene mentioned above has long been rumored ... is it finally going to be seen?

And once again I will use this opportunity to push for what I want to see in EpIII

I hope we get to see Obi-Wan opening one hell of a can of whoop ass on his, well ass!

If it's in Italy, it's probably be near Mt. Etna as it is the most active volcano in the region. GL could also try Mt. Kileaua(is this the right spelling?) on the Hawaii islands.. :)

Yes... I was thinking Hawaii. I've visited there before; great place. Maybe some of the Polynesian volcanos? I can't name any specific ones now, but I know there were a few active ones.

I caught that too. That would be so fucking awesome. One thing about the planet locales in Star Wars, is that they always stand out. Sand, Forest, prairies, ice, gas, on and on. So a setting with a volcano I can just imagine. Browns, greens, orange, white, now we're gonna get fucking red.

You won't get to see it. The fight will go for a very long time and Anakin will 0wn Obi-Wan for the most part. In the end, it'll be a cruel twist of fate that does Anakin in, not something owing to any skill on the part of Obi-Wan. Think about it, if Obi-Wan can beat Anakin once (when he's a fully fledged agile human, btw), what's to stop him from doing it again (when he's in his armor)? It would make Luke totally unecessary.

I'm just thinking out loud here.

I'm talking about Episode 3.

If Lucas is searching for a vulcanic scene I hope the planet where the volcano is located, won't be a desert-planet again. It's getting quite boring...

Because ol' Obi is, well, OLD by the time he meets up with Darth Vader on the DS. His powers are also fadeing as stated by Vader him self "Your powers are weak old man. When I left i was but the student, Now Iam the Master." Apologize if I the quote is not word for word correct here, Im going off memory alone.

You misunderstand- you don't think Obi-Wan didn't know Vader was around until ANH? For that entire 20 year period he knew. Since he didn't do jack crap, then it's obvious that he never had the gonads to take him on.

Yes, I know Obi knew Vader exsisted, for the past 20 years his primary mission was to keep an eye on LUKE and to train him as a jedi when he was old enough. Why else do you think he stayed on Tanntoine(the butthole of the galaxy). They(Yoda and Obi), had plans for the twins, why else hide them and make plans for them. Luke the was Plan A Leia as back up plan B, if anything happened to Luke. Why else would Yoda keep Leia a secret from Obi-Wan.

Beside that the dialogue is continuing.

NOT word by word:

"Even if you strike me down, I'll become more powerful then you can imagine..." something like that said Obi-wan

...and in SoP (T. Zahn) you can find a theory about the real power of Obi-wan and Yoda. In that theory you may find an answer also for Obi-wan's passive behaviour on the DS when he duelled with Vader.

Yes yes I know what your talking about. Something about O-W and Yoda becomeing so powerful in the force that the temptation of controling the galaxy became so powerful that they chose to seclude themsleves away and not interfear.(thats why they went to Tanntoine and Degoba repectivly) Thats why they needed Luke, he was not "All Powerfull" in the force yet and could do the job without 'TAKEIng OVer everything" or something like that.

Well, George Lucas has never read it, it's just a theory, and so really it's not a factor. When we talk about stuff like this, pure canon should be the rule, for obvious reasons: GL doesn't give two stuffs about the EU, and they certainly won't let them decide his story for him.

...and it was also declared by GL that they never allow anything to publish that should interfere with his ideas...So what's true now? :D

That doesn't mean GL himself reads everything. He barely touches it, though I hear he likes the comic books- though there are core directives he's given, i.e. what the EU isn't allowed to touch. You don't honestly expect Episode III to have anything like uber Obi and Yoda?

Of course not...

...and I didn't say GL personally reads everything!

That's what the license staff is for.

I agree. I would think in the Anakin/Obi Wan Duel that Anakin would be the better of the two and would be dominating for the most part. Personally I would think that before the duel between them Obi Wan and Mace face Anakin and in a lengthy duel soundly beats both of them Killing Mace in the process.

Volcanic has nothing to do with desert. Deserts aren't caused by underground heat, they are caused by a lack of humidity on the air, and low to no rainfall.

Volcanic means ash, lava, soot. In can rain a lot or not at all, it doesn't make any difference. Most volcanic places in Earth aren't deserts.

Honestly, your complain is like someone said he was going to use a "water covered world", and you whine "oh no, not ANOTHER forest planet!"
