A question about droids?

My mind thinks it remebers a quote from 3PO mentioned something about not having any pain receptors...I could be just crazy...but if I'm correct, then why does 3PO yell at Chewie for banging his head, etc? Why doesn't he howl in pain after his arm is ripped off after his fall in the Junland Wastes? Why does the droid in Jabba's Palace scream when it's getting branded?

So the question I guess I'm getting to is...do droids have pain receptors or not? Or do just some?

I don`t think droids have pain receptors and C3P0 is just a whiner afraid of is own shadow.

Droids do have pain receptors. This is canonical, even. Look at the droid torture sequence in Jabba's Palace. If the droids could not be hurt by what was going on, there would have been no need for such implements.

If that's so, then what about the droid in the Palace getting branded?

Some do, I think this was stated to be the case for HRD's. Though it may be that driod's are just programmed for self-preservation, which is the entire point of humans being able to feel pain. The fact that they react in a similar way, screaming and all that, may be a product of that programing.

Such does not explain what happened in Jabba's palace. If the droid were only reacting to try to save itself, it would not have screamed and droned on. To do so would have been pointless.
