Factions within the Empire

Palpatine's regime has always seemed like a galactic, more stable version of Hitler's Germany, with crazies here and there rallying around his cult of personality, but also with military, bureaucratic, and corporate leaders supporting the guy just so things can go on as usual.

So what's a good summary of all the main factions of it? I found one a long time ago on this thread-

...Tarkinian technocrats, New Order true believers, old school military, the civil service that's largely intact from the First Republic, and corporate bigwigs who make up the interregnum council)

So, if you were to make a list of the Empire's ideological/interest factions, what would it be?

It all seems terribly convoluted - no wonder it needed a top heavy ruler to keep it all together, then it all rattled apart once the steering wheel was empty...
