my personal favorite is in rotj, the emperor's arrival. I play that on repeat, at times.

I think the coolest (and most emotional) was the scene where Vader finally picks up the emperor and throws him down the pit.

It is difficult to choose but i think the most cool scenes are when the Executor appears in ESB and the rebel fighters attacked the DS1 in ANH.

Too many cool scenes. I'd say the coolest non-combat scene would be the Executor scene in TESB. For combat, I dunno, every combat scene in Star Wars is awesome.

Death Star killing Alderaan. While not anything that was out of reach of anyone else at the time, it was cool to know that billion sof Rebellion sympathizers were just vaporized. 8)

For combat, I'd have to give it to the battle on DS2 between Luke and Vader.

If you meant a single shot, I think that I give it to the visually stunning chase cam of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon pursuing Darth Maul, just after he opened the large doors into the reactor room.

If you meant a non-combat scene, I loved the part in ESB when Piett is promoted.

Best part?

"Imperial troops have entered the base, Imperial troops have entered the-" *static*

"Come on that's it"

"Give the evacuation code signal, and get to your transports!"

"Oh, wait for me!"

*cut to best scene in entire trilogy*

Rebel troops retreating, AT-ATs sowing havoc

*Luke kills AT-AT*

Veers kills shield generator after snapping off the last T-47

awesome.

Luke's girlie bawling after "I am your father". Cold chills EVERY time.

Anakin's slaughter of Tusken raiders.

As for a quickie, the Millenium Falcon's loop into the Space Slug cave in TESB.

Palpatine's arrival at DSII. It aslo contains the best arrangement of the basic Imperial March theme.

The battle between the Tantive IV and the Avenger in ANH. The Avenger fly-over is probably made the biggest impact on me of any film I've ever seen. I was ten at the time...

I've got to agree that all of those scenes were amazingly cool and the opening scene of ANH had a similar impact on me. The only thing is that Lucas ruined "the I am your father scene" with that frigging Emperor scream! I can't get too emotionally involved with the scene anymore because of that damned scream. I lose some respect for Skywalker after hearing that atrocity of sound editing.

Tie between the Endor space battle and the astroid chase.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

OT:

Lightsaber battle, TESB

Space battle above Endor, ROTJ

Lightsaber battle, ROTJ

PT:

Battle of Geonosis

Lightsaber battle between Anakin and Dooku

Incidentally, the massive, hulking Avenger attacking, tractoring, and boarding the Tantive IV made a huge impression on me, too. I heard that Lucas resigned from the Director's Guild rather than start with opening credits.

The sequence of shots after Luke's gunner in ESB gets killed is the best battle sequence.

ROTJ duel is the best fight sequence.

Um...I thought the Star Destroyer was the Devastator that was chasing the Tantive IV?
For A New Hope, ILM used a single Star Destroyer model for all the required shots in the film. Ironically, the model of the Devastator, Darth Vader's ship, was smaller than the Rebel blockade runner it was chasing. This 91-centimeter long miniature sported a distinctive X-shaped structure on its command bridge, which subsequent publications identified as an advanced tractor beam grid.
Yep, I was right. :P

1. Vader standing alone after he sends Luke aboard the shuttle to be presented to the Emperor.

2. As Luke bows his head upon seeing the charred remains of Owen and Beru.

3. Vader's double-take at the escape of the Falcon in ESB

EDIT:
4. "Impressive," WHACK!, "most impressive!"

I'll second that. I always get a chill down my spine when we hear the booming theme music and see the Rebels fleeing from the walkers.
