You're trying to tell people something that you can't.
Seriously he's being ignorant and honestly don't care.
Seriously he's being ignorant and honestly don't care.
He using ignorance to a new level...sorry but when they pull this level of shit...you can't do much. Yeah Wong smacks it down...but they usually run and probably still have the same feelings they harbored in the beginning about these sorts of subjects.
Valiento:
For your information, lucas stated that physics do not work the same way in his universe. He doesn't call star wars "our universe" but his universe. Now if we assume that there could even be more than one universe, and another of these universes doesn't follow earth sciences exactly, as Lucas states according to his story his universe does, then how do we know that mass and light influence each other in the exact same way? hmm? Even gravity is considered a constant that can't be defied, yet star wars has anti-gravity technology. There shouldn't be sound in space, yet we get sound in space, see seismic depth charges in AOTC. The ewoks should have died if it was our universe, but they don't because it is the star wars universe. It's a bit silly to try to conform star wars to our physics when it is according to lucas his universe, not our universe, and things aren't the same in his.

As for more proof...the very next staement as thus
I used to be over there...though that was some time ago(dear god the whole EU vs canon was absurd...and the bizarre what if were funnier)
Seriously you're arguing something that most of them have never learned or are staring in magazines and feeling good about themselves.Take Saxton with a grain of salt. He certainly tries to make physics seem unchanging and therefore what he says is right. Yet physics does change, a fact he conviently over looks.

Seriously, I don't know what one could say to convince Valiento he's a dumbass. I used to post at the JC back in the day, but their debates were always tainted by a heavy dose of stupid. I usually stuck to the subjective threads.

And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

He has a rigid thinking complex, doesn't undersatnd basic premises of logic, and employs the greatest appeals to authority (that one stupid Rostini quote and the forum FAQ) I've ever seen.
He's trying to tell me I'm twisting things around when he is openly critical of what Saxton says, because what Saxton says is beyond his comprehension.
I'm disgusted.

WTF is he talking about. We already have anti-grav tech in the works or prepared. Actually, I sent in a article to TF.net about this last YEAR! I'll try to dig it up...Even gravity is considered a constant that can't be defied, yet star wars has anti-gravity technology
edit: actually, it ended up comming from 2001. So two years ago.

Real-Life Repulsorlifts Developed By U.S. Air Force
Mon, Jun 11, 01 12:02:56 AM EST
Chalk up another one for the ever-popular "real life imitating Star Wars" file. This time it's repulsorlifts. Sith Lord Xer'xes fills us in ...
I picked up an issue (latest one, Vol 178 No 5) of Popular Mechanics, and found this in an article about evidence to UFO sightnings:
"...declassified documents concerning a UFO crash in 1957 in Ubatuba, Brazil, during the 1950's and 60's, U.S Air Force experimented with electrostatic drives. In theory, lift and propulsion can be created by imparting air frames with an electrical charge that matches, and therefore repels, the surrouding air. Such an aircraft would require enormous amounts of electric power, and the Air Force seemed to know how to create it."
Interesting, to say the least, if you consider the orignal release of ANH. Thought you guys might like it for the site.
Thanks for the great find Xer'xes, and who knows: maybe we'll someday have real landspeeders!
UPDATE: Tykrazen sends us some more info, interesting to say the least ...
On page 15 of Star Wars: From Concept to Screen to Collectible:
He (attorney Peter Eicher) informed studio lawyers that the federal government had suspended a request for a foreign design patent on Luke Skywalker's X-wing fighter "until a review requested by both NASA and the Air Force,...on the basis that the application contains subject matter that appears to be of interest to the National Security."
I always wondered why they were concerned over the design of the X-wing. Now we know.
Intriguing stuff!

LOL!
I've come to my conclusion: Valiento's mental ability is roughly equal to that of a chimpanzee. When I asked him who he though would win, Indianna Jones or a Yuuzhan Vong, guess what he said?
Indy.
I then asked him WHY he though this, and he (I am not making this up) says that Indy has the 'hero factor' so that he always wins. In other words, he pretends that character shields actually occur in a real fight! I then asked him what would happen if I pitted 2 'heros' aginast each other. Following his advice, heros should be 'rated' to see which of them has a larger 'hero factor' than the other! It's truly unbelivable.
Then someone asked him what would happen if (I'm not making this up, either) Spongebob Squarepants fought Indy. Guess what he said?!
He announces that ol' Sponge has what he calls the 'cartoon factor' so that he can't die.
I truly beleive it is impossible to argue with dumbasses of such a degree.
Indy.

No
Nope. All true. Incredulous, huh?
I believe it was the EU forum, the topic that was like "who would win vs. a Yuzzhan vong warrior?" I posted as StarcraftGuy (or something similar, maybe with an underscore) and he responded as I said. His stupidity is the reason that I left that board after 2 posts. I could feel myself getting dumber

It appeared in Popular Mechanics...so if there's any fuck up, it's on their part.

Well, it's true that we've never discovered midichlorians, or "the Force" and its impossible to travel faster than light, and there's no sound in the vacuum of space (a fact that most sci fi films/shows ignore), but maybe you could say its just something we aren't advanced enough to have figured out how to do... there's a loophole somewhere.
Well, it is science fiction, it's not perfectly realistic. But some of the stuff is more believable than others... (uber bio-weapons, sun crushers, anyone?)
