Has there ever been an overview of what the corporate landscape of the Galaxy is like? We hear about major shipyards and corporations all the time- Kuat, the ownings of the House of Tagge, Corellian businesses. We also hear about the massive corporations and guilds that seceded in the Confederacy and were Imperialized at the end of the Clone Wars. Then we also have the massive pseudo-autonomous zone of the Corporate Sector Authority. Finally, we have all these huge shady underworld crime syndicates with legit business sides- Black Sun, Talon Karrde's organization.

I guess my main questions are:

1. What is the 'shape' of the corporate world in the galaxy? What business are truly dominant, and have the most power, and are they all pro-Imperial, or neutral, or with Rebel loyalties?

2. During the Clone Wars, just how did the secession of such hugely important corporations not lead to huge economic upheavals? To use an analogy, if Microsoft, Ford, Bank of America, and Coca-Cola seceded from the U.S. and declared war, were bloodily defeated and then nationalized, it would have huge economic repurcussions. But we don't really hear about any depressions or economic panics occuring from the Separatist Crisis.

I'd venture that the best way for the Empire to deal with CIS corporations would be to divide their assets up among other corportations. The vast majority of info we have about SW corporations relates to defense contractors (unsuprisingly), so its interesting to ponder to what extent other types of businesses were under Imperial or private control. The Empire does seem to strongly favor free enterprise, considering that the most impressive Imperial assets seemed to largely be products of one or more private defense contractors.

One might actually argue that the Empire has largely been propped up by business interests. Palpatine appeared to be somewhat of a left wing Populist during the Clone War, so its interesting to consider a possible transition on his part to a more rightward-leaning, pro business industrialist as the Empire aged. Perhaps the Empire attempted to nationalize large swathes of industry during its early years, only to experience economic problems, resulting in their privatization? (not dissimiliar to the PRC)

I believe either the RoTS Novelization or Dark Lord indicated that parts of the Corporations from the CIS were to be nationalized by the Empire.

2) There probably was an economic downturn, but it was overshadowed by the Clone Wars.
