The Valley of the Dark Lords looks different

Every time some game or comic features the Valley of the Dark Lords on Korriban, it looks different from almost every other appearance. Is there ANY way to make sense of these multiple inconsistencies, and if so, what is it?

The ghosts of Sith Lords past like to redecorate once in a while? :P
Either that or there's different parts of the Valley of the Sith Lords shown and Sith cultists keep moving the tombs if they deteriorate?

Valleys can be pretty big, I'm pretty sure it's just different parts of it.

Not to mention the fact that sometimes there's thousands of years between different depictions of the Valley of the Dark Lords on Korriban, so the geography could have changed...

Main problem is it is even specific tombs (ie that of Marka Ragnos) which keeps having vastly different appearances...

Probably just history taking it's toll, couple of tunnels gave way from either stress or tremors and the devotees moved the artifacts to a newer tomb.

Indeed, although it is weird that Marka Ragnos' tomb went from being little more to a cave with doors (As seen in KoTOR), to being a fuck-off huge towering thing carved in his image (as seen in Jedi Academy).
I guess somewhere along the line some Sith did some renovating or something. "Man, this tomb sucks. Let's make something bigger and more awesome for this dead Sith dude."

Or Marka Ragnos' Darkside Spirit took it upon itself to do some home redecorating... but your explanation sounds much more realistic.

Ragnos' tomb in Jedi Academy looks pretty much like it did in Golden Age of the Sith (even though the rest of the Valley around it doesn't), but during KOTOR, the tomb looks totally different. I would say game mechanics, but when the Exile goes to the tomb in KOTOR II, Kreia mentions that the Exile is standing right near the spot where Sadow and Kressh dueled each other, which in Golden Age of the Sith takes place right where the tomb entrance is. I cannot explain any of this in any way other than yeah, some Sith must have come along later and decided to expand the place.

Anyone notice how the deceased Sith Lords sitting on the thrones in the Valley seen in Empire's End look exactly like the ones seen in Tales of the Jedi: Dark Lords of the Sith? Interestingly, Freedon Nadd said that they were "preserved by their own powers", and Palpatine says something similar, saying that the "mummified ancients are preserved by the very alchemy that made them outcasts". Is it possible that at least these dead Sith are the same?

I think that has to be at least partly why everything always looks different. For example, in KOTOR II, Kreia does mention that sandstorms can quickly cover up things on Korriban when she shows the Exile how the Sith Academy archeology sites seen by Revan in KOTOR have already been pretty much obscured only a few years later. Jedi Academy also shows a lot of things covered in sand or half buried in it, so maybe it is just geographical changes.

Wow, dude, give someone else a chance to reply; if you really must say all that, wait, and put it all in one. Artificially inflating your postcount is bad form.

Okay, Massacrus, let me show you this really neat feature a couple of the areas on this forum utilize.
Take a look at your posts. Do you see the button with the paper and scissors that pushes the quote button to the left? Well it allows you to go back to typing your post, so you can fix spelling errors, reword things in a better fashion, or add additional information. Isn't that amazing?!

Sorry, but I honestly wasn't trying to inflate post counts. My bad.

Anyway, I haven't read any of the comics, but from playing Kotor and Jedi Academy, I always just assumed that they depicted different parts of the valley. As for the different tombs with the same names, since there are always various Sith cults popping up, I think others' guesses that the cultists are responsible for maintaining and moving and renovating the tombs sounds about right.

The other thing you guys are for some reason missing is that between the KotOR and Jedi Academy there was 4,000 years of on and off again Sith rule of the galaxy. I think it would be easy for the Sith to make their tomb planet grand when they have the resources of an entire galaxy.
PS. I haven't played it in a few years but what tomb does Anakin visit in The Clone Wars game. It was an Ice level and you drove around on a military speeder

... Until Palpatine, no Sith Lord had ever seized control of the entire Galaxy, or even most of it. There had been large groups of Sith, and armies lead by them, but that always ended fucking horribly, with Sith turning on each other, so Darth Bane put a stop to that, and started the "Rule of Two".

KotOR takes place before Darth Bane's rule of two.
The events in the KotOR games takes place roughly 3000 years before Darth Bane was born and later released the thought bomb. In those 3000 years the power of the Sith in the galaxy had grown and wane repetedly. In that time Im sure they improved the tombs of their greatest Sith

I am aware of all of that. I was commenting on your assertion that for thousands of years there was "on again off again Sith Rule of the Galaxy", which is patently
false. They had waxing and wanning rises in power, and I'm not contesting that they had time to improve the tombs of their greatest Sith, but they
never, until Palpatine, held rule over any significant portion of the Galaxy.

ok the whole "resources of an entire galaxy" is to much but there still was a signifcant number of Sith running around that they would have the power to slowly but surely create an army like we see commanded by Bane and other leaders. So in that time one would believe a sith lord or apprentice would say "hey I think Ragnos needs more than just a 6'x6' room

The tomb Anakin visits in the Clone Wars game belongs to a Jedi Knight named Ulic Qel-Droma who became Exar Kun's Sith Apprentice during the Great Sith War. He lost his connection to the Force, and later died on Rhen Var, the ice planet where his tomb is located.
