Put up 2 new chapters of the Imperial
Sourcebook today, Chapters 1 and 12.

Chapter 1 has some interesting quotes:
************
"Priority sectors are the first to receive experimental equipment, and
theirs are the first to have losses replaced. Priority sectors are
sometimes given special missions in which the Emperor has a personal
interest. The Death Star Project is an example of a priority sector into
which the Empire poured resources enough to have formed perhaps
a score of Sector Groups. "
**********
Score = 20, as in Abe Lincolns "Four Score and Seven years"......
So that means only 20 sectors equalled the amount needed to supply
the DS project, out of THOUSANDS of sectors that the
Empire controls...
Or more precisely, the amount of material needed to build 1 DS1 is
equal to:
480 ISDs, 32,000 combat ships, and 16,000 support ships if we
go by WEG's listing of 24 ISDs, 1,600 combat ships and 800
support ships per sector group fleet.
And they built another, larger DS in just 6 months.....
Also, most of the DS appears to be hollow, from the look we
got of the reactor chamber in ROTJ.
Resources that the DS 1 required.....

Well, ANY starship is naturally going to be mostly hollow. Look at the cross section of a Star Destroyer... two or three meters of empty deck followed by, at most, half a meter of ceiling/floor.
The DS, however, has a HUGE area of empty space, easily large enough to hold several ISD's, surrounding the core... probably a means of containing and diffusing the heat. Go take a look at the original ICS for details.

"Score" can mean 20, but can also just mean "a lot".

Well this is based on what was about what 20 sectors
contain, wich is this:
480 ISD's
32,000 combat ships
16,000 support ships
In one sector group that would be
24 ISD's
1600 Combat ships
800 Support ships
And if the Empire has a total of a 1000 sectors that gives us:
24.000 ISD's
1.600.000 combat ships
800.000 support ships
Ofcourse this is the minimum number of ships there can be in a sector fleet if I understood sheppards page right so it's conservative.

Yeah this calc is lowend, and for the navy only(wich is comprised of sector fleets), the figures stated is the minimum amount of capships for each sector, the actual number will be be alot bigger, but not for ISD's but smaller ships.David wrote:Plus lots of ships that are apart of the twelve grand admiral's fleets, ships that protect shipyards, and ships that protect important planets like Byss and Coruscant.
Then there is the Starfleet wich compromises almost totally of planetary defense forces, kinda like the coast guard for a planet, and then there are the personal fleet's of Moff's that must controll the local defense fleets since they are not crewed by loyal imperials but by local inhabitants.
