Synopsis
Fighting alongside the Corellian rebels, Han and Leia are locked in a war against their son Jacen, who grows more powerful and more dangerous with each passing day. Nothing can stop Jacen’s determination to bring peace with a glorious Galactic Alliance victory–whatever the price.

While Luke grieves the loss of his beloved wife and deals with his guilt over killing the wrong person in retaliation, Jaina, Jag, and Zekk hunt for the real assassin, unaware that the culprit commands Sith powers that can cloud their minds and misdirect their attacks–and even turn them back on themselves.

As Luke and Ben Skywalker struggle to find their place among the chaos, Jacen, shunned by friends and family, launches an invasion to rescue the only person still loyal to him. But with the battle raging on, and the galaxy growing more turbulent and riotous, there’s no question that it is Jacen who is most wanted: dead or alive.

What the fuck are Force Ghosts good for, if they can't stop this kind of shit?

"If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine"

Bull-SHIT.

I seem to recall Qu'Rahn from Jedi Knight having no problems divulging Jerec's entire plan to Kyle Katarn... How hard is 'Jacen did it?'

Ah, but then the authors couldn't contrive their prequel ripoff. So they wrote themselves into a box. Mara has shown herself as a Force ghost?

I think what they are saying is that if Mara had shown up as a Force ghost, then she could have saved Luke a whole lot of trouble. That would make sense, seeing as how the EU in the past has overused and overdone it when it comes to Force spirits, and now they find a practical use for one and completely miss the opportunity.

Oh but a giant mess this is. I am hoping to read more about the plot and spoilers in this thread out of a morbid curiosity similar to that of watching an autopsy.

It was stupid for them to try and still fob off his status as a Sith Lord after he murdered a member of his family. Even Vader and Palpatine did not try to keep the ruse. Worse yet, Lucas made Force ghosts a rare and difficult feat that either comes from exceptional connection to the Force or being taught by one who knows how. So they could've just said Mara never got taught and wasn't uniquely connected to the Force and therefore couldn't ghost herself...
...except the idiots already gave her a Force ghost in the Legacy comics. Doh!

Apparantly, that was just a hallucination. Which I think is sad, because the following fight between Anakin-as-Vader and Cade was pretty cool.

Cade got owned.

So Luke actually murdered the wrong person, and is now all angsty about it? Fuck that. Part of the appeal of SW is that it is the escapist fantasy, with good vs. evil and none of that "grim and gritty" shit.

How can killing "Luminya" be considered even "wrong" if she's the "enemy"? The logic kinda boggles my mind by this lame insertion of morality.

Well he beheaded her in cold blood after she was disarmed and helpless.

Didn't she take credit for Mara's death? That pretty much baiting Luke.

Baiting or not as Luke's father once aptly put it after slaughtering Tuskins for killing his mother - "I'm a Jedi, I'm better than this." You're not supposed to rise to the bait and let anger control or dominate your actions. BTW this storyline sounds wretched. Can't they just try another group of characters for SWverse? I mean does every fucking event of note in the next generation have to revolve around the Skywalker clan? It's a big galaxy with quintillions of people, surely we can find another quartet of people of interest. No, I forgot, that would mean the EU writers have to be creative.

So, compared to this LOTF novel series, the far-future Dark Horse comics aren't so bad, are they? Just based on what I read on Wookiepedia, the Cade Skywalker and resurgent Empire stories don't actually sound all that terrible. I liked how they created the Imperial Knights as a counter to both Jedi and Sith.

From what I understand, the title was actually sounding better than this until the revelation of Darth Krayt's true identity a few months back. Now, it's just as bad.

I still don't see how that's so horrible, except for maybe the 'Yet Another Order 66 Survivor' part, but then, seeing as no one but HK-47 and Krayt himself know the Tusken language, he could easily blend back in and literally no one would be able to tell the Empire he was there, except maybe Obi-wan, but he's not going to be telling anyone where Jedi may be.

Wait, that's EXACTLY like RotS. Godammit, now I can't even pretend LotF isn't a wretched insult to Star Wars.

I'm just getting tired of the attempts to throw in as many PT references as possible across all mediums. Yes, the saga is now complete, but a lot of it is too much or not well thought out. Point in case: Aurra Sing still kicking it in Tempest.

But, but Stravo...without the Skywalker/Solo connection how do we know it's a galaxy threatening threat!!!!!

Ah fuck it. The EU has been slipping and sliding for a while and really seeing whiny pissant Jacen I-am-whiny-Bird-Jedi's-bitch Solo try to pass off as the next Uber Sith. Really it's comedy. It's better to read the shit, laugh, and go buy something that is good.

Really, the writers trying to remake the prequel is just sad. Especially trying to use Jacen as Anakin and Luminya as Palpatine.

At this point, shouldn't every intelligent race in the galaxy be wanting to kill anyone who is related to a Skywalker, and never let them near the Force again?

Oh, man, do you know what that means? Once Jacen dies, Clone Thrawn will come back to bring his corrupted GA/new Empire to power. Except this time, seeing as how it turns out in the LotF comics, he'll succeed!

At least the Sith in this story realize what a pissant Jacen is, they send him a holocron containing information that's completely useless to a Sith Lord. Hope he takes the hint.

If that ever occurs, I'll seriously burn all Star Wars stuff I call my own, which is pretty much...

Well, there was that paragraph on Wookiepedia. Don't know how true it is, but here's hoping it's not :P :
In a recent interview, Timothy Zahn explained that he could bring another clone of Thrawn to life if the Grand Admiral's ability is an absolute necessity to solve future galactic crisis. However, to escape the traditional archetypes of clones, Zahn stated that that clone would be aware that he was not Thrawn, and would be aware of immense pressure to live up to the original. To prepare for Thrawn's possible return, Zahn aroused Mara Jade Skywalker's suspicion that another clone of Thrawn existed and was behind the events in the novel Survivor's Quest.

^See, that's a Thrawn clone idea which would actually not piss me off.
