"Fanboys" Fucktardery

Anyone remember "Fanboys", where a group of fans decide to steal "The Phantom Menace" from Skywalker Ranch so their dying friend can see it before he succumbs to cancer? Lots of bullshit going, with the original writer/director given the boot, in favor of some dumbass who wrote Mighty Duck movies. The cancer plot has been taken out, and it looks like they're adding swearing and titties into it to make it "Superbad Fanboys".

Check out this Myspace Page, that has the whole clusterfuck detailed, including an email from the new director telling them what assholes they are.

I hadn't heard anything about this, and would have actually gone to that movie not knowing otherwise.

Thanks for the heads up Poe.

Damnit, I was absolutely ready to see that when it was supposed to be coming out back in August and to hear that they've basically destroyed any heart of the movie makes me cringe. If they don't change it back I can all but gurauntee I won't see it in theaters. If Brill's fucking claim that the original cut is on the DVD ends up being true I MIGHT, just might, buy it for the sake of having a good movie to watch at home.

I remember seeing trailers for it on DVD nearly 8-9 months ago or so. I thought it was going to be a direct to DVD. It looked to be funny, but as Hollywood is apt to do, the suits went and screwed with it.

Well just fuck me. I was looking forward to seeing it, but now it's just a fucking joke.

Poe, is there any kind of official petition anywhere? All I can find to support this cause is form letter and company emails that they recommend sending in support of the movie's original cut. Boycotting is one thing but i've never been big into spamming.

Has word of this atrocity reached the ears of a certain Fanboy?

A Fanboy by the name of Stephen Colbert! We need Truthiness on our side!

If they started an e-mail campaign from Colbert's official e-mail link [ http://www.colbertnation.com/cn/contact.php ], do you think that he'd do a piece on it? I mean it's a perfect example of corporate greed going so overboard as to be humorous.
