So the paperback edition of Sacrifice also includes a mini-book by Traviss dealing with Fett right before and at the start of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion.

It's typical Traviss, with lots of Mando'a, wonderfulness of Mando culture, and how great Fett is for overcoming his hatred of Jedi for the greater good.

However, there are two items that really stand out, even on the usual KT scale:

The opening quote (KT, you're not Frank Herbert):

Warmaster, we think too often in terms of dualism: Jedi or Sith, light or dark, right or wrong. But there are three sides to this blade, not two, opposed and similar at the same time. The third edge is the Mandalorian. All three sides care nothing for caste or species, only adherence to a code that unites. The Mandalorians remain: the most formidable enemy of the Jedi: but the Sith are not always their allies. The Mandatorians even worshipped war itself, then simply turned their backs on their god. You might begin to understand them one day.

And then, this little exchange between Boba Fett and Nom Anor:

"That's my price. It goes up when I find clients haven't been totally open with me." Like not mentioning a galactic invasion. Fett was the one doing the buying now, though: he was buying time. "You're going to have to fight for every meter of ground here. Thousands of sentient species, countless worlds, and every one will put up a fight. You need us. If only to deal with the Jedi."

Emphasis mine.

Poor Yuuzhan Vong. They would be so helpless against the Jedi without help from Fett and his Mandos... oh, wait.

How long will this be allowed to go on?

She really loves talking up the importance of her irrelevant sideshow hicks, eh?

In any event, even if the (quite unprecedented, in my view) massive negative reaction to her lastest turd had filtered up to the relevant honchos at LFL, I bet this shit was written before the hardcover came out.

No, it isn't. The Mandalorians of Vergere's time were a tiny bunch of mercenary thugs reduced to the backwaters of galactic civilization and incapable of assembling a fighting force, and even more impotent at the outset of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion.

Furthermore, the Mandalorians have absolutely nothing to do with the Force.

Like every government, religion, etc. in existence.

Someone should watch the Star Wars movies. Hell, even when the Jedi were fighting the Mandalorians, it was only a small portion. The rest of the Jedi Order simply ignored them. Yeah, huge threat there.

You might begin to understand them one day.

Apparently in the last junk pile of the EU, someone unleash a virus that anyone has Boba or Jango genes(I think) will die if they stay on the Mando homeworld or someshit. Thus forcing Boba Fett from being some big hub-bub and placing some hippie as the new leader of the mandos.

What was it that Kreia said about the Mandolorians again, at the end of KoTOR 2? Something about ending as "the shell of an armour upon the shell of a man, too easily slain by a Jedi", right? I guess her awesome, precognative abilities failed to account for Traviss.

What is this shit? Mandalorians were only important during that KOTOR era, and only because they were at war, after that, they lost most of their planets, and were reduced to being bounty hunters and most of them were dead.

137ABY is Dark Horse's domain. Further, Stradley thinks Traviss is shit.

He thinks Mandalorians are even shitter, courtesy of one Fandalorian who nagged him incessantly on the Dark Horse forums to put Mandos in the Clone Wars comics.

Result? Hundreds of Mandalorian corpses in one issue, and Commander Bly saying, "The Mandalorians are in full retreat, General Secura" in another.

ROFLMAO. Any correspondence in the forums about that?

That said, I do find Vergere's cluelessness amusing; comparing the M'an'do'lo'ree'an's to the Jedi, never mind the Sith, is just plain hilarious... It also fit my profile of her as deluded and insane.

However, one could complain about the writing; that does not really sound like Vergere would, a typical Travissite bland description. She completely fails to capture the enigmatic little imp's style of wording.

If I ever get a gig writing for Del Rey / Lucasbooks, I'll have the Mando'ade almost be totally wiped out by a new faction of mime-performer / warrior weathermen-accountants know as the Lemon'ade.

To be fair, Vegere hasn't spent decades living under the Yuzhan Vong yet.

Despite what A Practical Man says, It really makes no sense for Vergere to be worried about Mandalorians. When she left the Republic to join the Vong, the Mandalorians had been wiped out to a man on Galidraan, and they wouldn't exist again until Spar resurrected them in the Clone Wars.

Vergere is telling Nom Anor to be worried about a group of farmers!
