It is totally unconfirmed and is at most a rumor, with the source not even completely trusted, but it does explain why Naboo is never referenced in the OT.

It's at the very end.
Oh and any mods can feel free to change the title to something more appropriate.

That is stupid. Didn't they state in some book in the EU that Naboo does infact exist and that Palp used it as sort of a place he could getaway to when he needed to relax and shit? This just seems like some absent minded fanboy who has no regard for canon and just wants to see a DS.

GL was consulted in the making of the MMRPG Galaxies. Naboo is the site of (one of) Emperor Palpatine's private retreat(s).

Granted , I like the idea very much of Naboo(and especially thoes damnedable Gungans) getting blown to ash, but as others have mentioned Naboo still exists in the EU, so unless George feels like screwing with the EU I don't think the battle will be on a BDZ'ed Naboo.

Maybeit was just one of the critical systems that we don't hear about in the OT (like Corelia, Chrindrila, or the Wookie planet.)

It is stated in the EU that Naboo is a private retreat for Palpy. It says so right on the Insider galactic map.

does it mean it has to stay pretty?

Because I doubt the Emperor would want to vacation on a planet that has a burnt surface and toxic atmosphere.

Of course, the Emperor would want it all shiny and nice as it is now his personal retreat. Damn thats cool though, your summer home is an entire PLANET, its good to be the Emperor. Wonder what happened to the citizens of Naboo, forced relocation, extermination or enslavement....
I kinda like the idea of Palpatine making them all his personal slaves, especially the Gungans.

Well in SWG all of the cities are still intact, hopefully with some Naboo NPCs around. Also, it says the Gungans formed a resistance group with some Naboo to fight the Empire.
Anyways, if it's one planet you'd think Palpatine would be nice to its his homeworld.

He is ? I thought he was just the Senator for that Sector. Naboo merely fell under his jurisdiction. I could be wrong though.

Yes. I highly doubt that Palpatine would betray the world that gave him his aspirations and motivation. Unless it gave him them in the sense that they give me the aspiration to conquer and wipeout humanity because of the stupidity.. XD

According to the NEGTC he is.

why would you need an idyllic green planet to be relaxing? watching lava move about can be pretty cool.

Which is why Lord Vader's castle is on a blast furnace of a planet like Vjun.

Come on Lucas. You don't need a prototype DS to [literally] flame Naboo. Just have an ISD do it.
We WANT A BDZ.

I don't thnk so Darth. Prehaps the planet just became your normal run-of-the-mill planet and went quiet all of a sudden.

I'm guessing Naboo isn't mentioned because there are millions of planets, and most of the OT takes place away from it.
Anyway, there are probably hundreds, if not thousands of planets like Naboo in the SW Galaxy, would there be any reason why the Emperor specifically chose Naboo?

Yeah, but I always kind of wondered what happened to it, considering that what with what happened and all between Anakin and Obi-Wan with the planet, it might have been mentioned.
Though, another interesting part is that it talks about where Obi-Wan and Anakin have their fight. And could make for some great visuals.

Palpatine chose it because it is his homeworld.

Since we're already in a thread marked spoilers
"Patrick Stewart is to have a Cameo appearance in Star Wars: Episode III as Grento Yerida/Darth Vicious.
"The character of Grento Yerida/Darth Vicious was Palpatine's mentor. Darth Vicious died some 40 years prior to the events in Episode I.
"Many Jedi were killed at the hands of Darth Vicious during his rein as Sith leader.
"Grento was the only one ever to defeat Master Yoda in a saber duel, almost killing him. It took the combined power of the Jedi council to destroy Darth Vicious once and for all.
"In Episode III, Grento appears to Palpatine in ghost form (as Obi-Wan appeared to Luke) to congratulate him on the complete eradication of the Jedi council and for the fall of the republic. A feat Grento Yerida was never able to accomplish."
What the fuck is up with that? Jean Luc Picard crosses over to SW, thus causing trekkies brains to explode at the thought of the Federations greatest hero playng a characterin STAR WARS?
might be interesting

Wipe them out. All of them.

Lucas could easily have the fight in the middle of a BDZ but that would be silly. He could simply have the fight happen on a place like Saraphim or similer where a pit of lava is normal.

Yes. Jar Jar could be on Naboo. That
alone would be sufficient justification for BDZing the planet.
