Does anyone know what vessels participated on the Imperial side in the Battle of Endor? It seems that the only vessel named was the Executor The fleet seemd quite large, and for the most part consisted almost entirely of ISD's. Wouldnt this go against Imperial doctorine of combined forces? Where were the frigates, cruiser, etc. Or was it just an excercise in displaying Imperial might? Also, how many ships were there, and how many were destroyed?

I know I have asked this before, but has anyone tried to do a CG movie displaying the battle of endor from the capship perspective, as the battle in the movie was more concentrated on the fighter melee's

There is one...

It suggests a minimum of 26 vessels, which matches up well with what we see on screen (estimated as somewhere between 22-27 IIRC,) though the Communications Ships is most likely not Avenger and I doubt there would be so many repeats in the names.

Also, a lack of direct source references hurts its credibility. Still, I would think it is the best commonly available list we have

Not necessarily about specific ships at Endor, but here's a list from Dr. Saxtons site:

Perhaps they didn't have time for naming the other ships.

Actually Executor wasn't named untill later. Durung the movie it was only refered to as Vaders Star Destroyer or the Command Ship.

The only Imperial capital ship named in the films is the Avenger.

Thanks for the response Kaz, but isnt most of that information heresay and in general non-canon? Granted Zahns work is damn good, but its semi-canon isnt it?

As for not naming any of the ships, that seems a bit lame to me. AFAIK no warship has ever put out being unamed, even if its just a model number.

Hmm...now you mention it it was hardly referred to at all, not an SSD, the Executor, or anything. Maybe when they were taking about the command ship they mean the SSD.

As for a direct reference to the Avenger, I dont recall it ever being given a name in the movies

Piett: "Right."

pellaeons_scion, please tell me you at least know how the Canon-official scale works...

Zahn's works are official, which are treated as Canon for all everyone cares.

"I thought I told you to wait on the command ship." Palpatine to Vader. He calls it a command ship.

"Vaders on that ship!" "Now don't get jittery Luke, there are lots of command ships." Again command ship.

"Alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival." Vader, reffering to it as 'his Star Destroyer' hence Vaders Star Destroyer.

And it is infact reffered to as an SSD also: "We've got to give the fighters more time. Focus all your fire on that Super Star Destroyer." Ackbar, Endor.

I'm sorry, but you have to understand how dumbfounding it is that a user who's been here for five months doesn't know how Canon and official works.

My apologies.

As I said, if someone would give me a link to where the listing is, I will then be able to keep up and not make erroneous statements.

thanks

Movies are the highest level of canon, cannot be overruled by anything else. The movie novelizations, scripts, and radio plays are lower canon, underneath the movies. Basically everything else is "official," lower than the canon sources but still influencing the overall SW continuity. There's no clearly defined policy on official hierarchy, but it's been stated that game mechanics shouldn't be taken seriously.

Somebody better tell the officials over the NJO that, or at least Dix and the other asshat. I just read a passage in Remenant, and Jacen is remembering what Vergere said. 'There is no DARK SIDE. There are NO sides.' Uh, didn't the movies establish there WAS a light and dark. I mean, that was kinda the fucking fundamentals to the story. Good vs Evil.
