Description of event from the Honda Center's site.
Star Wars™: In Concert, a unique multi-media event featuring music from all six of John Williams’ epic Star Wars scores, begins its worldwide arena tour on October 1 and 2 at Honda Center.

Narrated live by Anthony Daniels (the actor who portrayed C-3PO in all six films), the production features a full symphony orchestra and choir, accompanied by specially edited footage from the films displayed on a three-story-tall, high-definition LED super-screen – one of the largest ever put on tour. The live music and film elements are synchronized in order to create a full multi-media, one-of-a-kind Star Wars experience.

“We’ve taken the key themes from the music and cut together all the images that fit with each theme, so you can really get a sense of how the music played into the images,” said George Lucas, creator of the Star Wars Saga. “The whole soundtrack is a testament to John Williams’ creativity and his extraordinary ability to enhance the emotional aspects of the films.”

“Creating the music for the Star Wars films has been an exciting and wonderful experience for me, and I therefore have derived particular pleasure in assembling a compendium of themes from all of the films to be presented in Star Wars in Concert,” said Williams. “The editors at Lucasfilm have created original film montages to accompany each of the musical selections, and in the process, I believe that a singular and unique Star Wars experience has been born.”

“This event has been crafted to present Star Wars from many points of view; for the first time, the full dramatic sweep of Williams’ iconic scores can be heard performed live in one evening,” said Another Planet Touring Producer Spencer Churchill.” “The show is a new way of experiencing the epic scope of the saga.”

Accompanying the concert is an exclusive exhibit of Star Wars costumes, props, artifacts, production artwork and specially created behind-the-scenes videos from the Lucasfilm Archives. Many of these pieces are leaving Skywalker Ranch for the first time. The exhibit features many classic fan favorite artifacts, as well as several new and never-before-seen items, including:

· Full costumes for Jedi Masters Kit Fisto and Plo Koon will be on display.

· For the first time ever, pages from John Williams` original hand-written sheet music for Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace will be exhibited for the public.

· Also on display will be various never-before-seen props from the films, including blasters and helmets from Coruscant, Tatooine and other iconic Star Wars locations.
Aw yeah, and the Ducks will start their season the very night after these two shows finish. It will be an excellent weekend in Anaheim for me.

I actually saw this in London, the display made it pretty damned difficult to get any photo's as it was all behind glass and the camera had trouble getting past the reflections.

The show itself was fantastic, it lasted two hours but I could easily have sat there for another two if really wanted to go all out.

Is this "worldwide" tour going to come to, you know, the rest of the world?

There are supposed to be a good deal more dates and venues but they're probably not announced yet.

I can't wait for this. It looks fantastic. I'm worried that there are no tour dates outside of the US yet - this is supposed to be a worldwide tour, is it not? I can safely assume it will at least show up in Sydney and Melbourne.

It opened in the UK, I saw it in March.

This was a really amazing show! Just be warned if you are going to take the time to view the props and artwork on display make sure you're one of the first people in line. Also, unless you just found buried treasure or made it big shortselling stocks, you will probably not get many souveniers. Sweet jeebus they were expensive.

Well it could be worse, according to one of the T shirts for sale the Alderaan performance has been cancelled.

The list of venues has been constantly expanding so I suspect one should check every so often.

It's also coming to the Palace of Auburn Hills about ten miles from my dad's house, and we've got great seats! :P

Just got back from the concert, and it was FANTASTIC!

If you get the chance, it's worth it.

What did you think of the displays with all the artwork and costumes? And how many Slave Leias did you see?

We didn't see the displays. We looked around before the show but couldn't find where they were set up. Then we heard it was open after the concert, but we didn't look for it. If you want a program they were $30, which I passed up. There were shirts and t-shirts on sale as well as green lightsaber keychains and posters. Nothing really caught my eye.

It was worth it to see Anthony Daniels. He really enjoys what he does, or he is faking it very well.

I'm guessing you were at the Norfolk showing correct? I don't know how that venue is laid out but in Anaheim the displays were arranged in the concourses on the lower level the the Honda Center all around the building and they had been set up before the event for guests to check out as they entered.

Loved Daniels rant on how amazing Threepio was.

The displays were probably on the lower level and must have been set up during the show.

I did enjoy Daniel's exposition on the importance of C-3PO.

If they were around for the Tampa showing, I too missed them.
Darth Fanboy wrote:And how many Slave Leias did you see?
I actually only saw one. And she didn't quite have the body for it.

That was an excellent and amusing bit. And I have to agree with Deathstalker: if he's not having fun up there, he sure does fake it well.

Overall the show was amazing. Not surprisingly, the Imperial March got much love. After the show, with repeated bowings, Daniels came back and said that it appeared we weren't ready to go, and then asked if we wanted to take another trip to the Dark Side. Naturally the audience wanted that, so we got an encore of the Imperial March. I was totally glad I stuck around, rather than leave early as several others did.

And if anyone has yet to see it, stick around. :D

EDIT: The show was amazing, not amusing. Though it was that as well.

Opening night didn't get an encore, though we certainly tried.

I wonder if the displays not being up right away have to do with the fact that everything was amazingly fucking crowded in the areas where the displays were set up.

The one thing that really annoys me about this is the poster design.

It's got Han Solo, Leia, Yoda, ponsy-boy Anakin and Darth Vader.
You know who's not on there? Here's a hint: he's also the Joker.

If its the same poster i'm thinking of, Luke is dueling vader in the bottom at the center, and is right above leia on the left side.
