I love how people who claim SW needs to have a consistent continuity, is claiming she represented anything like that. Karma's a [non-gender-descript term]

One thing that struck me was this:
I've been receiving mail from Star Wars fans who have bought the new visual guide to the second season of the Clone Wars TV cartoon, and have been perplexed by detail in it. They've noticed changes in canon.
I haven't seen or heard of this guide - what's up? Has someone been shitting over her numbers?

Too early for a happy dance. The known devil is better than the unknown one.

Hopefully so.
Presumably, she is talking about
this.
Yeah, considering that even skirmishes in the clone wars involve at least several Star Destroyers...I wager a guess that the guide has some numbers of aka. this number of troops was deployed here, which blow her idiotic "small guerilla/special forces wars" right out of the water.

I think they mean the new capital on Mandalore.

It would take her replacement to literally shit in a book and sell it to be much worse.

Funny how it was continuity that drove her out when she hasn't really given a damn about it in the past.
I feel bad for Gears of War fans

The canon is beyond my control, because that's the very nature of tie-in work. But that still left me with some personal choices I had to make. I could try to make the retcons. Or I could switch to different SW books that weren't affected by these changes.
Translation:
I wanted to make Star Wars my personal bitch and Mary Sue my Lemon'ades but none of the other writers and editors want to play ball with me.

Better late than never. I hope she takes her Masturbat'orians with her.
I must say it fills my heart with glee every time George Lucas casually wipes his ass with the EU. The fact that this time it's that deranged old yenta's scribblings makes it even more satisfying. I only wish he'd write most of it off as he did with the Holiday Special. At least that had Bea Arthur and Harvey Korman.

But will we still get her version of the Military guide?

The underlying problem was not so much her disregard for continuity so much as the fact that she didn't give a damn about
logic. I think she actually believed her bullshit made sense and all the critics must be wrong because she's a "journo", and she hasn't yet figured out what Jon Stewart has been making fun of for his entire career: that journalists are nothing more than self-important windbags most of the time.
When she fucked with continuity, I believe she honestly thought she was fixing it. It's no different than the way creationists attempt to fuck with science textbooks and honestly believe they are correcting them.

Praise the God Emperor of Terra that she finally called it quits. Too bad that she did way too much damage before she left.

I liked this part
But as a writer, I have a moral deal with you, the reader - if I hook you with a story, my part of the deal is to follow through and give you a satisfying outcome. If changes beyond my control mean I can't give you that, then I won't do a half a job. You deserve better than that. And in five, ten, twenty years time, nobody picking up the books will know that the stories suddenly changed direction because the canon changed in the middle of it. They'll just see books that went off-course for no visible reason and didn't deliver what they promised at the start.
Mostly because its a great example of how she precieves the world, as htough there will be people weeping in the streets without her books

Woohoo, maybe now we'll get back to Mandolorians that are cool, but aren't wanky, and more like how they were portrayed pre-Traviss(going off of some pre PT and and Knights of the Old Republic descriptions). I can only hope we get somone to retcon her crazy shit out of existance. Maybe then I can say that I like Boba Fett and find Mandolorians interesting without that awful after taste in my mouth that resulted from me learning of Traviss and her work here.
P.S.: I still think I like the Bounty Hunter Wars portrayal of Boba Fett best.

They appear to have reined her in with an editor to keep her bullshit under control, at least with GoW.
Too bad they don't have editors keeping the
rest of the monkeys writing tie-ins for that series under control too.

I think a lot of the damage is done...I've been losing interest in Star Wars tie-in fiction in general since the NJO. Still, now that I know her bullshit is gone for good maybe I'll look into the Clone Wars stuff again.

Where he's a cold blooded, evil bastard with only the slimmest shred of decency and morality? Yeah, that worked for me as well.

I find it amusing that an author who consistently fucked with the works of others (claiming she was improving it) obvously can't stand that The Clone Wars cartoon is messing with her precious Mandos (i.e. remember that TESB novel quote about Boba Fett being a Mandalorian, who were defeated by the Jedi during the Clone Wars?), so is leaving.

I am kissing that page on Star Wars Republic #67 now which was the result of the creators relenting to Mandalorian fanboys insistence of having them appear en masse in the comics: a throwaway scene in a cave with scores of dead Mandalorians.

Good bye, and good riddance. Though I have never read more than a page or two of one of her books, going by what I've heard here, she should probably have been fired years ago.
