I liked it, it's one of the only fanfilms where the crew actually paid attention to scale, for example clearly visible blasts from orbit. My only problem was they were using the Heavies when Medium or Light Turbolasers would've been more than sufficient.

meh. It's nice, but I'd prefer one based on the rebellion. I have a hard time caring about the bad guys. The whole time I kept wishing some rebels would light up the walker convoy.

I do not like that there is not a single file to download without joining some service. This was not the case with Chapter 1.

Well if you are using Firefox you can get Downloadhelper and just save it from the streaming video on the IMPS website. It saves as a 115 MB mp4 file. I am almost done saving it now. I hope it was worth the several year wait.

5 years for that? They had better have 3 out in a matter of weeks to make up for it.

Downloading now - the mp4 looks like the only way to get it non-streamed.

To be fair, as late as they were compared to their stated goal, it's pretty damn hard to do integrate all the stuff they did from just home PCs. Very slick as fanfilms go.

Assuming the rebe- criminal base didn't have a shield that justified it. Any why not? Admiral Ozzel didn't think that a shield generator capable of resisting a battleship was proof that it was the Rebel Alliance, stating that it could be smugglers. Personally, I liked seeing the big guns rotate, and in action for once.

I've seen no reason to assume the guys this particular group are fighting are afilliated with the Rebel Alliance, for all we know they're drug dealers and other criminals. Maybe even slavers - for which reason, I would have preffered it if they'd taken the base by ground assault using the walkers and ion cannon fire to bring down the shield. But then, the bad guys aren't subtle. Obviously it'd cost more, but it'd be easy enough to justify by suggesting that the cameraman/droid couldn't accompany them any further, or even having the ion bombardment short it out, and then picking up on their way out, with the HTLs sterilising the area. That wouldn't, I think, take much longer or be beyond their means.

Given that Davenport Gateway was a hive of criminality and chaos, not a politically turbulent world as far as we saw (no criminals seen there appeared to have political motivations), I would bet on the freighter being actual criminals, not part of the Rebel Alliance.

Actual scumballs must outnumber the rebels by an order of magnitude at least, after all.

From a technical standpoint a rebel film of comparable scope would be much harder; fewer people have rebel costumes, and it would improve the necessity of quality acting; we'd be able to see faces with rebels a lot more, which would mean you couldn't re-do lines nearly so easy.

As for those saying this is too little for so long, look at the environment they're in and how realistic it is? That's a lot of professional quality work there - and I'm betting they didn't go on location like ESB does, yet it looks pretty much as good.

Overall, I liked it. Not as good as the first, and the wait has been painful, but still not bad. Always impressed with the quality they get from just desktop computers.

That shuttle must be freakin huge. Seriously, the dimensions on that thing would be interesting.

I'm glad they brought back the freighter from the first. Looks like figuring out what that freighter is up to is going to be a major theme throughout. I like the design...kind of a sleeker version of a YT-2000.

Good to see some orbital support.

I hope they'll start coming out a bit faster after this. I look forward to the next one.

I enjoyed it - especially that dropship design.

So I finally watched chapter 2. It wasn't as good as chapter 1 but it was still better than most other fanfilms. Of course we should remember that this is part 2 of 8 and not necessarily intended to stand alone. I remain fairly confident that when all 8 chapters are complete the whole thing will mesh together as the most awesome fanfilm ever. Spoiler
I was kind of bummed that we didn't see most of the tactical retreat. Especially after they set up the suppression fire from the AT-ATs. On the other hand we have seen that sort of thing a dozen times on The Clone Wars. The orbital bombardment was the real money shot in chapter 2.

Actually, they did go on location. The glacier is one of the ones on Mount Shasta.

Does anyone else have the feeling you should get out the shovel at the ending narration?

We can probably bet that the crew is NOT a Corellian and a Wookiee. :)

Anyway, now that I've watched it a couple of times. It's not as good as the first chapter, but it's still an excellent fanfilm. The middle seemed to drag a bit as we followed around the walkers while nothing happened, but then it's supposed to be a documentary, so I suppose what they did fits the style.

Other than that, sometimes the dialogue didn't match what we see on screen. "Gear's three green" when there were only two visible landing struts on the drop ship, "Hangar bay personnel have cleared your ship" when there's still a guy clearly visible directing walkers into their stations, and a couple of other places.

But all in all? Orbital bombardment makes it all worthwhile.

I would assume that guy was part of the landing craft crew.
