Star Wars: ANH novelization

Post by Uraniun235 »

I was reading through the ANH novelization when I came upon the following passage:

"Theoretically, no weapon could penetrate the exceptionally dense stone of the ancient temple, but Luke had seen the shattered remains of Alderaan and knew that for those in the incredible battle station the entire moon would present simply another abstract problem in mass-energy conversion."

How dense is "exceptionally dense"?

The Temples of Yavin IV were crafted by Massassi slave workers under the direction of the Sith Lord Exar Kun. He was in posession of SW technology and more importantly a Sith alchemical apparatus.

They should not be regarded as normal constructs, but technological marvels.

Remember, Kun had the service of a Sith alchemist...
Plus the high priests could have simply used the force under Kun's direction to make the atomic bonds of the stone much, much stronger than it would normally be.

Stone which can withstand turbolaser fire has come up several times in the EU. Perhaps it's super conductive and basically uses underlying rock of the same type as a giant heat sink?

It's more or less like starship armor. Sith alchemically enhanced materials are extremely resilient.

See Lord Vader's armored suit.
