Ok, I'm going to try and get atleast one computer game sometime in March and I'm thinking about getting Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds+Clone Saga expac. So, I was wondering, are they worth getting?

I think that Galactic Battlegrounds is a very fun game (all the blasters flying around), and I like it more than Age of Empires.

OTOH, if you have already played AoE you'll get the feeling it's exactly the same game except that troops behave differently (ranged attacks are the norm, etc).

for a computer game some connsesions have to be made. Have you ever played Command And Conquer? Infantry can kill Tanks in that one too and it is still a good game

This game sucked more than a Whitehouse Inturn. If you really like it i'll see ya it for a score in GBP.

It's worth getting if you're a fan of the Age of- series. But make sure you get the Clone Campaigns add-on, it makes the game a lot better. Now that I think about it, I don't even know if you can get it without the Clone Campaigns anymore.

I've looked at the box the game comes in and it looks like it'll be fun. What it really comes down to though is if it can run on my machine. I have enough diskspace and ram for it, but I only have like a 400MHZ Pentium 2 processor.

It should work, but you might experience some slowdown when there are a lot of units on-screen.

That happens with all RTS's I've played. Hell, Warcraft 3 damn near killed my comp, lol.

SW:GB is one of the most heinous games EVER.

Avoid.

Not really. It was interesting for a bit, but as it wore on it became increasingly obvious it wass just an AoE2 mod.

Demo ran fine on my 350 PII.

That said, avoid. It sucks.

I've only read the review on Game Revolution, but they weren't impressed and neither was I.

EDIT: Darth Garden Gnome tells it like it is below.

If you've played AoE, don't even bother . It's just a mod. If you haven't, I might suggest it, since it's basicly the same game. Still, you should just buy Age of Mythology instead.

So much for that. I was at a site looking up info about the game, all of factions have the same damn units! I'll just get a sims game, lol. Unless of course, anyone has suggestions?

Was Force Commander supposed to be any good?

From what I read, Force Commander was worse.

Is Medieval Total War any good? I have Shogun and figured it might be good to have that one too.

Man, I got MoO3, Warcraft 3, Alien vs Predator 2, and some other games loaded on my computer, and I experience no slow down whatsoever. :P
Must be hell to have anything less...
Oh, and on topic, I found Galactic Battlegrounds to be an exceptionally pleasing RTS game, and the expansion even more so.
It has it's flaws, but they aren't any big problem, since the game fucking kicks ass. :D
Get it and the expansion pack.

Acutally I found it to be quite good.
Although I've never played AoE, so who am I to tell?

This game fucking rocks! However, get the two pack. GB was fun right when it came out, but there are some major flaws in it. However, if you get Clone Campaigns, it makes up for this. (You can upgrade your ATATs to shoot air targets. Namely Rebel Speeders. Hint Hint) If you decide to get it, I'll run some games with you and help you out. Never know, might want be able to join the Dark Guard. Heh.

I agree; Clone Campaigns makes it much better.

And Force Commander was horrible.

I don't really play multiplayer games online much, because I suck.

But playing is the only way to improve. With RTS, it can be really intimidating, but don't let that stop you. Play with some friends who don't care if you suck, and then work your way up from there.
Multiplayer is one of the best features of the Age of- series, so if you get one, you should play multiplayer. Don't limit yourself.
