EU: Battle for Kamino
I was bored so I did this
Part 1:"Brothers in Arms"
Anakin sports a better artificial hand, like Luke in ROTJ he wears a black glove on it.
Anakin has a vision of the coming battle "it did not go well" which Kenobi dismisses with virtually the same line as Qui-gon "Keep you mind here and now" Anakin's vision turns out to be dead on acurate.
Tuan We:"Our energy shields will protect us from energy weapons,But will not repel ground troops"
The reason for death star design brought out again.
Kenobi"Seinar is developing fighters for the clones, But they're not ready yet."
TIE fighter mayhaps
Kenobi asks Anakin what's on his mind, Anakin flashes on Qui-gon, the Tusken slaughter, his secret wedding (which Kenobi still doesn't know about)
"Nothing master"
later
Secura"Perhaps you try to hard?"
Anakin"Maybe. I don't know. Things just get so.... Complicated sometimes! Its not like when I'm flying or fighting-- or like when I was podracing. Everything seems so clear then."
Secura"Maybe things aren't always that simple"
Anakin (same pissed off look he got when mom died)"They ought to be"
A little more insight into Anakin's personallity here, could the seeming simple solutions the Empire presents be part of his path to Vaderhood?
TradeFed ship arrives launches fighters and a troop transports, the defence against the invasion force landing, 8 Jedi Star fighters. Kenobi sends red squadron after the fighters while Red squadron attacks transports.
Once again we see the Jedi over confidance, granted this is a trap, republic reinforcments are coming, but thats still an absurdly small number to take on the forces of a single TradeFed ship
Lama Su"We are being overwelmed master Ti, If the Droids reach the interior labs, the newest generation of clones will be destroyed or worse"
Ti"We haven't lost yet Lama Su. While the Jedi still breath we will not abandom Kamino."
Lama Su"Then you will not fight alone we do have one last line of defense...
ARC Trooper, Advance Recon Clone Troopers, They were trained by Jango himself for the most critical missions."
Ti"You keep them in stasis tubes? Are they Dangerous?"
Lama Su"They display some of Jango's personality and independence. This makes them... Unpredictable."
ARC Trooper armor has a few extras compared to regular armor, most notable an aiming reticule similer to the drop down one on Jango's helmet.
Several pouches that hold grenades ammo packs and other devices.
They use a differant weapon, their blasters have a scope similer to the one on a Steyr AUG (site is fixed to a non adjustible range)
Special wepon, Reverse-polarity pulse grenade, overloads the droids systems but disrupts the ARC troopers armor sensors as well taking a several seconds to recalibrate
Anakin"He's rude for a clone"
ARC#1"and your complacent for someone who may be on the losing side of a battle"
Kenobi"What are you doing? Raising a shield? Sending a Distress signal?"
ARC#1"No.I entered the self destruct code."
Ti"You did WHAT!?"
ARC#1"Jango's orders. We can't let the clones fall into the wrong hands. They grow up loyal to the republic or they don't grow up at all."
at end of part 1
Ti"Thank you for saving them."
ARC#1"Hnh. Your welcome but I didn't do it for you. I was following Jango's orders..."
Rather odd isn't it Jango trains a special forces team of clones and leaves them with orders to prevent anyone else from getting them. Yet he worked for Dooku.
Part 2:"No End in Sight"
We meet the Mon Calamari, and they're part of the Confederacy. Their later enslavement suddenly takes on a new wrinkle. As we see later a Mon Cal is commanding the lead TradeFed ship.
Mon Cal fighters are amphibious
The Mon Cal commander in a damaged fighter rams the Hyperspace rings so the Jedi can't persue the escaping warship.
Ending sequence, Mace Windu knew the Mon Cal commander, dosen't understand why he would make such an ill planed attack. Tyranus ans Sidious discuss the loss of the battle. The loss was planned to prevent sepratists from achieving a quick victory
Sid"And Kamino still operatiional this clone war will not end soon"
Palpy's stratagy of increasing personal power is dependent on the clone wars continuing as long as possible

Re: EU: Battle for Kamino
Nice work, Setesh. About this quote, though:
They work for Fett, Fett works for Dooku, and Dooku works for Palpatine. Palpatine wants the war to continue so he can increase his personal power base, but he does want the Republic to win in the end. The fact that the clones have been instructed to be loyal to the Republic and only the Republic indicates that Palpatine feels they are an integral feature in his eventual success over the CIS.Setesh wrote:Rather odd isn't it Jango trains a special forces team of clones and leaves them with orders to prevent anyone else from getting them. And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

As discussed in the Stormtrooper rifle thread by the time of the Empire its mixed clones and regulars. But at this point the Republic only has the clones to work with.

Re: EU: Battle for Kamino
Just a question: Is it really feasible to think that Kamino was the only world which supplied Clonetroopers??? After Kamino was attacked, I think that Palpatine might have considered starting deals with other cloners in the galaxy.Setesh wrote: Sid"And Kamino still operatiional this clone war will not end soon"

Re: EU: Battle for Kamino
That would probably necessitate Palpatine finding another source for the clones, since he lost Jango. Or he could just use one of the clones, if that is workable. Hmm, I wonder whether it is copyrighted to Kamino though.Simon H.Johansen wrote:Just a question: Is it really feasible to think that Kamino was the only world which supplied Clonetroopers??? The battle happens very early on, the active soldiers are called the Prime clones, the children Second gen, and the tube kids Third generation.

Re: EU: Battle for Kamino
I don't think they can use one of the clones - if they keep cloning from a clone, the result will probably be genetic degeneration. However, there might be other bounty hunters than Jango which make good cloning templates - or, for that matter, old acquaintances (sp??) of Palpatine which don't necessarily are bounty hunters.neoolong wrote:That would probably necessitate Palpatine finding another source for the clones, since he lost Jango. Either that, or the Republic probably starts recruiting non-cloned troopers, thus seeing the birth of the regular Imperial army which often is mentioned in the EU.
BTW, unless Kamino has a collectivist economy, I don't think that Jango's DNA is copyrighted to Kamino as a planet - it would rather be copyrighted either to the Fett family, or to those particular Kaminoans in charge of the cloning operation.

Bah, it was a joke. Though the genetic information was modified, you could probably copyright that, if you really wanted to rationalize it.
