Darkstryder and the Charon

Post by Axis Kast »

What can anyone tell me about the plots behind the Darkstryder and the Charon, detailed as they were in a series of suppliments by West End Games. What links can we draw to the Yhuuzan Vong?

Absolutly zero link to the Vong. They were mentioned in that campaign and then forgotten by all. I'm led to believe they are being cut out of continuity as a result, as even the Darkside Prophets and Holiday specila get more press and references on them.

they did get reference in the new WOTC sourcebooks

Didn't the Aing-Tii monks come from the Darkstryder campaign?

AUgh. Long story and my memory is bad. If you want to really know more, go to www.theforce.net/swenc and do some reading. Alot of the entries in the SWENC cover the Darkstryder stuff.

SPOILERS:

The Charon were from an earlier supplement called "Otherspace", where some bizarre hyperspace accident knocked some REbel and Imperial dudes into another dimension (called Otherspace.) The Charon were a death cult htat believed everything eventually died (something about their world being swallowed up by a black hole) so what they did was go around and destroy other planets in Otherspace.

In reality, the Charon were from the NR universe (or "real space") and from the Kathol Sector (where the Darkstryder campaign is) and known as the "Char Ontee" - they were a sort of servant race of a group knonw as the "Kathol" - some really old and s ome what powerful group who gradually disappeared/died out (there was some weird backstory about them being mostly energy beings or something weird.) The Kathol were organic technologists (brain bug again.) And one of the devices they tried to create was called the Codex - some sort of organic device that manipulates or controls the Force.

The Kathol as I said became some sort of bizarre energy beings and were "trapped/stored/whatnot" - Darkstryder was some sort of organically created "custodian" that went insane and sought domination and escape from Kathol, so it was using this bizarre techno-magical/organic "bribes" to get hands on a functioning hyperdrive.... etc etc.

As I said, to learn more, read the Unnoficial SW encyclopedia at www.theforce.net/swenc
