Darth Sidious clone?

I recently came to the conclusion that Darth Sidious may only be a clone of Palptine and not Palpie himself. This would explain why he is never mentioned in the OT. He could have been killed and Palptine used the diversion to remove the Jedi. Also, this would explain why the Jedi never detected the Dark Side in Palptine until it was too late. He would not have been forced to use it very often, unlike Darth Sidious.

Your theory violates Occam's Razor. There is no need to introduce such a mechanism.
What's wrong with them being the same guy? Palpatine could have stopped calling himself "Sidious" after his goals were achieved, or, perhaps in the OT he is still called "Sidious" but we just never see anybody call him that.
Notice that Dooku was only called "Tyrannus" by Sidious. Perhaps only a few people would know to call Palpatine "Sidious."
In fact, nobody calls the Emperor by name in the entire OT, so for all we know, everybody calls him Sidious.

Good Point, but why didn't we see his body affected by the Dark Side yet and how come the Jedi didn't sense the Dark Side in him?

I maybe wrong, but maybe Siths can hide the Dark Side affection from others or they could use plastic surgery, holografic emiters etc.

According to Yoda and Mace Windu in AotC, the Dark Side clouds things for normal Force users, to the point where their judgment is impaired. This might just be a convenient way for George to cover his ass on the issue, though.

Don't forget the Force ability of the Jedi was waning at the time.

Oh, and didn't GL say there would be some sort of suprise in regards to Palpatine? This could be it.

I hate this idea. It's right up there with 'Boba kills Mace'.

I would say, FUCK NO. Darth Sidious actions where not that significant directly. With everything that came after and the Empires revisionist history he just sliped between the cracks. Really, Palpatine turns to Emperor, and was only Darth Sidious in the shadows where no one notices.

I think that it is evil twin syndrome.

*ducks*

Seriously though, I believe that it could be a case of "split personality" disorder, but of a willing nature, where the Sidious personality hides to escape detection during all the meetings with Jedi etc, only to come out when needed.

OR

Sidious knocks of Palpatine and takes his place in Ep3...

What's wrong with that? I think it's poetic justice, Mace killed one Fett, only to be killed by another years later.

OK poetic justice for a wee guy yet to hit puberty to kill one of the most powerful Jedi at the time? Sure

I personally think that Sidious is a split personality of Palpatine, and Palpatine is not entirely aware of how extensive the split is. Sidious could have discovered the split, and through the force, manipulated his split.

Then again, the jedi might not have been able to dectet the dark side similar to the way Yoda was able to hide on Dagobah for so long. Maybe large concentrations of Dark side energy and light side energy work as a positive-negative charge, and cancel each other out in close proximity. While the cancellation doesn't affect the Jedi's direct ability in the force, it could just impede a Jedi's ability to sense through the force.

Sidious could be a Sith ghost that possesed Palpie.

I hope not!! That would be stupid.

it is possible. Look at Nadd and Sadow.

Yes, and we can't forget that Sidious look different. he seems to have a much older face than Palpie's.

It seems obvious to me there will be a surprise regarding Isdious and Palpatine, or we would have already seen the connection outright.

Personally I believe chancellor palpatine is a clone and he will be killed and the Sidious figure will assume control.

Why cant Sidious be regular Plapi in disguise?

I dont see the big deal with Sidious hiding from the Jedi. The sith where masters of stealth after all.

One of the reasons I'm inclined to believe that there are two people in the Sidious/Palpatine discussion is because of all the stuff they both are involved in, a lot of it in secret. It's not impossible that they are one person but being Supreme Chancellor and then sneaking off to the crappy part of town...wouldn't people be wondering where Palpatine was since there had to
be reports of war starting?

I'm sure a lot of this could be explained by stating that on film we don't actually see all the time that has elapsed. It might have taken awhile for Tyrannus to get back to the capital and by that time Palpatine could have had and excuse to be "in disposed". Actually, the whole point of Maul and then expecially Tyrannus was likely to have been to do the leg work in executing Siddius' plans.

I have to think that if it weren't for George Lucas' fondness for "suprises" that most of us wouldn't even be thinking there were two people (Palpatine/Siddious). Who knows, the suprise about them could be something different. He could be Anakin's father? There could be all kinds of stuff just wating to be sprung on us. Hopefully it will be better than the Luke and Leia are brother/sister.

I never liked Jangos death, it seemed a bit easy, I know that Mace is the second most powerful Jedi and all and that Jango is just a bounty hunter, but I would have like their fight scene to have been a bit longer. Just a quick decapitation (and the rest) to me it seemed to belittle his role as the father of the clone army, IMHO.

In the OT yes.

In PM and AotC NO!

Don't forget that more than twenty years will pass between AotC and RotJ.
Palpy in AotC is around 60 so in RotJ he'll be around 80, plus the affection of the dark side...and the lack of L'OREAL's wrinkle control cream in the SW universe...

Mace vs Jango was great. I thought it hightened who Jango was substantially. Think about it, Mace fucking Windu takes on the galaxy's most notorious bounty hunter. That was hell, it wasn't until Jango had no where to run, nowhere to hide did Mace finally get the upper hand.

Well, Jango would have gotten away if his jetpack had worked.
