Anakin's modified Jedi starfighter
Anakin's starfighter began as a standard Delta-7 Aethersprite that was heavily modified by the Chosen One to suit his demanding tastes for speed and control. It is more heavily armed than the standard Jedi starfighter, and handles better during atmospheric flight. These concept design sketches are by Ryan Church, one of the Concept Design Supervisors for Episodes II and III.
I don't like the design very much. What do you guys think?

Shades of a pod racer.
It looks kinda funky. Especially the front end.
This might be the new starfighter that is to be seen in Ep. III. I hope not.

From the side it looks like the prototype flying car.

With the engines out in front like that, from the side I think it looks a bit like a pod racer. I think it's intentional.

What, are we suppost to see this in epIII?

We're more likely to see another one of Doug Chiang's designs than this... thing.

It has a podracer-esque look to it. Which is ugly. I prefer the sleek look of a regular Aethersprite.

Yuck.

In one of the interviews it was mentioned that we would see a new fighter in Ep. III. I hope this is not it.
I hope it's something closer to a TIE that we see.
Perhaps he leads a squadron of TIEs in this thing.

They are calling that a 'modification' to a standard Aethersprite? Not bloody likely; something that different would have had to have beeh custom built. Both the droid(which is built in as opposed to being independant like R2-D2) and the fucking engines are in different places. That is like moving the engines on an F-15 to make them wing-mounted, NOT BLOODY LIKELY!
Damn that thing is fugly.

If that fugly thing comes anywhere NEAR Episode III I will be very angry.

Actually if you look the standard Delta-7 doesn't have a independent astromech droid either.
But they are in different places. It may be similar in design, but it a different figher.

Chiang isn't on the art team for Episode III.
And I agree with everyone else. The fighter is damn ugly. I hope Anakin is flying something better than this blue and white turd in Episode III.

Ehhh? Then who the hell do they got working on this thing? Why isn't Chaing on there? He's always been there before...

Kill it, kill it now!
Why does Hasbro come up with all this shit?

I was expecting something more like the N-1 from the complaints...
It's not that horrific(Certainly not as bad as some Official designs..), and it looks like it was just a wider front with extra engines bolted on. I still prefer the look of the Delta-7, but this is passable. As long as it's not the only new design we see, I won't send in sniper teams.

I like the N-1. It was part of the whole design ethic of Naboo, I liked how each group had readily identifiable designs...
This however is a travesty of the highest order.
I demand that a squadron of TIE/Ds be dispatched to destroy it immediately.

I couldn't stand the N-1, myself. Looked like a flying rat.
What's so horrible about this?

Looked elegant and graceful to me.

its just so clunky, and ugly, and...
awkward...I think is the best way to describe it. I don't think I've ever seen something so weird emerge from SW. Cap ships are allowed to be ugly clunkers, but fighters are supposed to be more majestic craft, of a more civilized age.
Its a stinker folks.

I dunno, I like my industrial X-wing.

To each their own, I suppose. I don't mind 'clunkers'.

Yes, but something like the OT Rebel fighters were functional clunkers. I don't see any positive aspects to this design whatsoever.

More engines: More Go-Juice is the immediate thought. We'll see if someone bungles it and has the other Delta's keeping pace, though...

Well, it seems that somebody glued a pod racer to Buck Roger's fighter.

Why the fuck is the astromech directly in front of the cockpit? Not only does that limit your view, it'll distract you every time the astromech moves its head. Dumb as shit.

Looks very, very weird to me. Probably too weird.
