*Accidentally double posted, so i'll edit it into a new question ive been pondering*

What is a Gammoreans physical strength compared to a wookies? From the Wraith squadron novels it seems Piggy has strength at least equal to Chewbaccas.

Gamorreans are said to be able to cause the same amount of damage with a normal blade as humans can do with a vibroblade. In other words: they're pretty fucking strong.

Also they remind me of the orcs from Warcraft... :)

Yeah... but then again, don't you think that Blizzard intended the Warcraft orcs to look like Gamorreans?

I've always had the impression that Gammoreans are stronger, slower, and much dumber than Wookies, though now that you mention it I don't recall any specific evidence to support that conclusion.

Voort saBinring was genetically modified, though, so he may be stronger or weaker than the typical Gamorrean. Given how the tribe dealt with Luke in the book where he meets Callista (Children of the Jedi? Brain's mostly blank), I would say they're roughly equal to a Wookie's strength, +/- 10%.

I don't know about Gamorreans being dumber. There was a Gamorrean in the Enemy Lines duology (might've been Piggy, actually) who seemed to be pretty intelligent.

It was Piggy. Gamorrean genetically modified for intelligence in excess of Human norm, especially in the areas of mathematics--he's supposed to be a mathematical genius, able to calculate odds in much the same way as a droid, to the extent he can use mathematics to predict enemy starfighter behavior patterns.

That was Piggy. His intelligence has NOTHING to do with the average intelligence of his species. For that matter, Bobby Fisher and Einstein's intelligence have little to do with the average human intelligence. It just goes to show you what a sample size of one does to your estimates. Seriously, though, Piggy's intelligence does not even represent the maximum intelligence of a Gammorean. In fact, his intelligence is almost certainly FAR higher than the previous highest intelligence of his species.

Piggy has been modified for intelligence but there were no genetic enhancements as far aas physical strength were concerned.

Here in an excerpt from Solo Command, Piggy has been shot and severely wounded by blaster fire while this event occurs and he is trying to prevent the assaination of Admiral Ackbar
He lurched into motion toward teh assassin, lowering the edge of the desk as he built up speed, and was rewarded with the victim;s sudden perception of him, a look of surprise on the Twi'lek's face. Then he hit

On the other side of the joining wall the ensign leaning against the wall of the lounge, a human female, was suddenly flung forward. she slammed onto the floor, her cup of caf splashing as far as the boots of the ensign halfway across the lounge, and she lay there unmoving.

The others in the lounge looked at the bowed in portion of metal plate that had once been smooth wall. One knelt besde the injured woman. The rest scrambled for the door.
a bit further in the reading Piggy sees that "The Twi'lek's head was a quarter the width it should have been."

There's also this, from Wraith Squadron:

"I have struck several fellow pilots in well-moderated challenge matches. I have never had to strike more than once. You will notice that charges were filed against me within half an hour of the alleged incident. No one I have ever struck has been able to speak coherently within half an hour of my striking him."

Oh yeah, almost forgot about that one. Still gotta love "The twi'lek's head was a quarter the width it should have been."

I would think that even though the average gamorrean is a freaking lump of fat with a nervous system they're combat skills are quite effective. Even a Wookie would have a difficult time in a challenge of brute strength.

The problem with a normal Gamorrean is that it's not too bright. They are barely consous savages. Wookies have developed technology. While a Gamorrean is hefting it's Vibro Axe the Wookie has shot it dead with a bowcaster.

It's because of the huge mass of the typical Gamorrean. Mass x velocity = momentum.
