NJO Twists?

There's a lot of new "hattricks" coming up in NJO as best I can tell.

Not only have we played around with stock characters - Anakin, Chewie, etc., but we're getting back in touch with the Remnant, Bakura, the Yvetha, etc.

What is the liklihood, in your opinions, of Daala's return?

What is the liklihood of Luke's finding hidden Imperial shipyards in the Unknown Regions?

Will anything left on Nirauaan help at all?

Will we hear about the Corporate Sector, do you think?

Hopefully non-existent. KJA ought to be exorcised from continuity as much as possible.

Low. The Zonoma Sekot shipyards look to be the emphasis (and they're organic, DOH).

I don't think so. The CS has already negotiated separate treaties with the Vong, so I don't think it will be much of a player in what remains on the NJO. [/quote]

That's so messed up. In Rogue Planet it was strongly implied that the ships were organic, but that their performance was due to their mechanical parts (Obi-Wan commented on the modified hyperdrive he looked at).

*phew*

Thank god, at least inorganic technology wins one victory.

My understanding is that the Zonoma Sekot shipyards combined organic and inorganic technologies. Perhaps Luke hopes to use Zenoma Sekot to demonstrate to the Yuuzhan Vong that technology and life can coexist.

What an idiot plot movement?

Why do they need to be out there searching for old lost crap and such.

Why does there need to be anything remotely like a deus ex machina?

Why can't the NJO just show a general war grinding down the Vong inexorably back toward the Tingel Arm?

The Jedi and sundry others aren't willing to allow a war of annihilation against the Vong. Just because they attacked the New Republic without warning and killed billions of its citizens is no reason to utterly destroy their civilization and kill every single one of them, after all.

...Well, not if you're a Jedi, anyway.

I'd like to point out that they'd only be destrouying the YV's military.
Unless you'd like to put forward the case that every single YV is now in the SW galaxy :? :P

There could be a general war pushing the Vong back without bizarre plot devices, hidden truths, secret origins, and other deus ex machina-esque stupidities.

Think Soviets pushing Nazis back along the Eastern front, except without the raping and pillaging.

Gradual, realistic counteroffensives, not one battle-wonders and last minute fixes...ugh they're going to fuck it up just like the post-ROTJ Galactic Civil War.

Um, every last Vong IS in the GFFA. That or enroute. Millenia ago they conquered tehir own galaxy, then proceeded to go through so many violent civil wars that most of the population was killed and what was left of their galaxy after the initial conquest was laid to waste. Thus they built the world ships and left. The wandered for millenia between galaxies and finally found the SW galaxy. And they can't just pack up and leave, they have to invade and take new planets to survive because their worldships are dieing.

So yes, I would like to make that case. Because its the plot.

If Daala returns at all, don't count on her playing a major role. She's probably burnt out and retired at that point, so it's limited how much she's capable of, unless there's something REALLY weird about her. As a side note, she was never particularly popular among the fans.

If they bring Daala back, then it would be at the hands of a competant writer. She would be bad ass and actually intelligent. That's it, get me a pen and some paper. Time to writes me a storys.

As much as I like intelligent baddies, a dumb one suddenly plus 100 IQ points would jar a bit...

The NJO is about 10 years after her last appearance, I'm sure the writers would be able to come up with a reason why she's smarter.

Only way I can think of. She sure doesn't have any of her own.

They bring her back and as she orders her ship into action it is blown to hell and gone by the Vong with no survivors
