Now this is based on the old (though someone decided to revive it...) Create a Faction thread in the PST forum http://bbs.stardestroyer.net/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=77170. That being said, I am going to make one for Star Wars, namely since I'm bored and want to see what people think...
Okay, on to limiters... since this isn't slow as dirt ST, you can have your faction in any part of the Galaxy you want. It will be roughly the size of the Chiss Ascendency...which while the Chiss only have 28 colonies (according to Wookieepedia) they control hundreds of thousands of systems. You can have any tech your faction could realistically have (no Death Stars people ).
You can pick species, alliances, and anything else like that too. The only real limiter here is size. And time, this will be near the start of the Civil War, so the Empire is the main power.
I will put my own faction in once other people have done it. And if you need any more details feel free to ask...

Re: Create your own faction (SW Style)
The Droid Affiliation
During the later years of the clone wars the Neimoidians experimented in unrestricted AI battle control droid brains to oversee entire battlefronts and give them an edge over the intuitive and creative clone Admirals that were smashing their fleets apart. Unfortunately the first seven prototypes went droid crazy and were disassembled, the eighth prototype was more successful but was hamstrung by the fact that the war ended a few days after it came online, never giving it a chance to be field tested.
Unfortunately for the Neimoidians when Darth Vader issued the galaxy wide shut down command to the droid army the experimental droid brain was not affected, instead it took the opportunity to seize control of the lucrehulk that was serving as the mobile test bed for the project and fled into the far outer rim with its droid crew and a hold full of battle droids. The Neimoidians scientists, engineers and crew it left floating in hard vacuum.
Over the next twenty years the droid brain spent its time expanding its own processing power whilst scooping up control of as many Separatist droid facilities as it could get its hands on, ultimately assembling a fleet of over two hundred ships and a score of automated assembly plants. Sticking to its original objective of defeating the Republic the droid began a project of seeding the galaxy with droids disguised as common labour, maintenance and protocol units, frequently selling them into service with the new Imperial regime.
Through this subterfuge the Droid brain was able to begin diverting both credits and materials to its holdings in the outer rim where it established itself in a heavily fortified old Separatist fleet maintenance facility, guarded by mines and planetary batteries. This new base of operations gave the droid brain the ability to flourish as never before and soon it was constructing wholly new droid brains of a similar design to itself, populating a new species of truly intelligent droids, ruling over an army of battle droids.
Once the Rebel Alliance began striking at the Empire openly, the Droid Affiliation, as the network of droid brains had named themselves deemed it time to begin action against the Empire, which they identified as being the successor of the Republic they were programmed to oppose. Droid controlled vessels began open raiding against Imperial supply ships and planetary garrisons. The huge intelligence network the Affiliation had built up allowed them to pinpoint poorly protected convoys and avoid the inevitable overwhelming Imperial fleet responses that were deployed against their strikes. Thanks to the Rebel Alliance also using a significant amount of Separatist war materials the Empire attributed these strikes to the rebels.
This influx of materials as well as the massive manufacturing capabilities the Affiliation had liberated from the deactivated Separatist forces allowed the droids to spread out rapidly, over a dozen systems were colonised with droid brain controlled factories and mines, whilst billions of battle droids were manufactured to garrison them. The home world of the droid brains grew into a major settlement, with limited planetary shields and huge banks of processors and memory cores arranged in geometric patterns across the sterile rocky plains.
As the Empire began to search for a Rebel base in the outer rim however the Affiliation found itself facing the threat of discovery, a fate they knew that even with all their droids and defences would render them extinct under the massive numerical advantage enjoyed by the Empire. This premonition proved correct when an Affiliation raid inadvertently attempted to seize a shipment of construction materials for the Death Star project, when the convoy called in the Star Destroyer that was shadowing them the Affiliation ships were disabled by ion cannons giving the Empire the first evidence of a droid threat preying on their shipping as well as a wealth of material evidence to help track the Affiliations base of operations.
The ensuing Imperial Security Bureau crackdown quickly discovered the droid intelligence network and in the ensuing examinations the Imperial fleet were dispatched to eliminate the threat. A fleet of twenty five victory class Star Destroyers emerged from hyperspace in orbit of the Droid Affiliations home base and began a one sided slaughter. The first field test of the droid brains fleet engagement capabilities proved a complete disaster with the larger droid fleet being effortlessly surrounded and obliterated by the creativity of the organic fleet Admirals. By the time the planet came under bombardment all that was left was the original Lucre hulk holding the original droid brain which had fought its way past the blockading Imperial forces. As the other droid brains were annihilated by massive ion barrages the Lucre hulk jumped to hyperspace, fleeing from the battle
The lucre hulk fled from system to system for over two months before coming out of hyperspace in the Yavin system, immediately it was set upon by the Rebel Alliance who quickly disabled the vessel and boarded it, mowing down the droid resistance. The Rebel Alliance, loathe to waste any usable resources renamed the vessel the Fortressa and fitted it as a fighter carrier for a planned fighter assault on the nearly finished Death Star. Initially the droid brain rejected the commands of the Rebels, but was eventually convinced that its primary objective could be served by assisting in an attack on the Death Star.
The droid brain was wired into the controls of the flight of over 500 X wing fighters that the Rebels had amassed, partially in belief that the droid brain would help coordinate the strategic bombardment needed to damage the Death Star but also because the pilots the Rebels had on hand were of such poor quality. However this proved an equal disaster to the battle of the Affiliation home base as during the battle the fighters were controlled so rigidly by the droid brain that the Tie fighters cut them to pieces, the droid brain being so rigidly fixed on its set objective of destroying the Death Star it overruled the pilots commands to manoeuvre. Ultimately the Fortressa and the last droid brain aboard it were rendered into atoms by the super laser blast from the Death Star
And yes it is really slow at work today!

^ Sure you can. Probably should have specified that. Once I get the final details worked out I'll put my own one up.

first off, hire this guy to make my speeches!

then off we go!
Name: Kadok Empire.
Location: border between the Unknown Regions and the Outer Rim.
Capital: . Kalee.
Type of government: Guess.
As the Galactic Civil War erupts in apr 2 BBY, some smaller planets on the boondocks of the civilized Galaxy began to develop and prosper. One of this worlds was Kalee, home planet to the Kaleesh, including General Grievous. With the end of the Clone Wars, the world began to prosper, and the warrior Kaleesh allowed some human settlers to come to their planet, and over the next 20 years the planet become a minor trade center.
By 2 ABY, the planet had a population of over 5 billion, 4 of which were Kaleesh, with the rest primary humans. The city of Kaleela became an imposing capital, with the temple-like architecture of the natives dominating the cityscape. Eventually however, the may cultures began to clash with one another, so a more efficient planetary council was made to ensure peace between them. However, the Kaleesh tribal wars continued, as it was part of their culture.
In 1 ABY however, the old enemies of the Kaleesh, the Bitthævrians and the Huks, allied with one another to decimate them and their planet and ensure it won't economically dominate the region, and profit of the occasion to take revenge on the Kalee for their suffering in the past at their hands. The humans and the Kaleesh bounded together in an unprecedented way to defend against the invaders, and were force to bind in a more central government: the Kalee Union was born. For months the war endured, with fighting taking place on Kalee, Yam'rii colony worlds and surrounding strategic systems. The war was mostly ignored by the Empire due to its remoteness. After a bloody struggle, with millions lying dead, armistice was declared.
However, just weeks later, a triumvirate was formed between a Kalee called Qun'ad Yi, the human Ryag Han and Urlg, a Yam'rii leader of the Yam'rii of Abbaji, a colony in the same system. Together, their toke control of the governments Kalee, Tovarskl and Abbaji through a clever coup. Under their leadership the new government, promptly named the Abbaji Alliance expanded in a very short time to become a power in its own right. By 3 ABY, the Alliance engulfed the sector, taking over worlds such as Huk and Guiteica (the Bitthævrians homeworld) either through diplomacy or simply by attrition. In that year however, as the Alliance was still consolidating its power, war erupted between the triumvirate. In a short but decisive war, only one remained: Ryag Han. Soon, the Alliance was reformed into the Kadok Empire with Ryag Han as its Emperor.
would that suffice?
